www.change.org/p/sign-this-petition-calling-for-govt-to-stop-cutting-benefits-during-fitforwork-appeals

This petition has been started by the Citizens' Advice Bureau and asks the DWP to stop the practice of leaving people without any form of benefit while officials take weeks over deciding their entitlement.

The Citizens' Advice Bureau has been prompted to start the petition by finding that huge numbers of people in difficulties, caused by this practice, have been coming to them for help.

I expect lots more did, I just didn't comment before.

Ana Tue 11-Nov-14 21:22:40

Yes, it's not obligatory to say you've done it...

Granny23 Tue 11-Nov-14 21:56:17

Done and shared on facebook

Marelli Tue 11-Nov-14 21:58:33

Signed and shared on Facebook.

That's great that you've all signed and I guess others have done so without saying. It's certainly not obligatory to say.

The petition now has its full complement of 15,000 signatures and the CAB is asking people to join its "Thunderclap on Twitter".

I have no idea what that is as I don't Twitter so will need to find out. smile

durhamjen Tue 11-Nov-14 22:48:23

The thunderclap finished on October 28th, but it's still okay to sign the petition if you want to.

Elegran Wed 12-Nov-14 09:54:33

But it is not obligatory to tell us, if you wish you can do good by stealth and blush to have it known.

janerowena Wed 12-Nov-14 14:50:32

'ping' in case someone hasn't seen it.

durhamjen Wed 12-Nov-14 23:14:48

The petition says it needs another 9000.
No point in having a petition if it is not advertised, Elegran. Is there such a thing as a petition that got results by stealth?
How do you know the people who say they have signed this do not do lots of good elsewhere? Without telling you all?

Just noticed this on politics.co.uk

Another way for the DWP to save lots of money by penalising women.

www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2015/01/20/the-coalition-cut-which-takes-food-from-children-s-mouths

Did somebody ask somewhere else if the Tories can get more despicable?

mollie65 Wed 21-Jan-15 09:04:21

I think the absent non-paying parents are MORE DESPICABLE
fyi - maintenance payments when received are not counted as income for benefit purposes
so these poor children/parents would still be in receipt of the safety net of the welfare system.

durhamjen

There is one thing I will give you 10/10 for trying.

Ariadne Wed 21-Jan-15 11:12:36

Done.

whenim64 Wed 21-Jan-15 11:25:49

Signed - thanks FarNorth. I hadn't seen that petition.

durhamjen Wed 21-Jan-15 19:52:56

There's a UKIP leaflet that says people on benefits should not be allowed to drive.
I honestly haven't made it up!
