I wonder if the Queen's favourite son has arrived back in this country yet. And how he's looking.

I do hope he will address the nation directly, about how much he has enjoyed his ski-ing holiday of course. And whether he got any Christmas cards from anyone in the US.

Dear boy. smile

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 19:47:57

What a tease! grin

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 19:39:32

I didn't actually expect Phoenix to enlighten us regarding anything she may know, hence two grin's at the end of both posts.

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 19:37:49

Well, I think I must be too dense; I may have contributed in some way (or not) but I still have no clue what the 'something' is.

Come on Phoenix, get plugged in!

Here's a link to enjoy while we wait:

She may have been hinting at something, but we are all too well-brought -up to take hints, aren't we?

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 19:08:25

Elegran my post was in response to Phoenix who I have a feeling may be hinting at something. Could be completely wrong of course grin

I have read research on genetic eye colouring as I was intrigued as to the reason, going as far back as I could, my GG grandmother down to my own GDs have dark brown eyes when the respective males had a mix of blue or green.

It's what I call a constipated look [Absent]

Three eyes Kiora? confused and a [stupid emoticon] for me too please GNHQ.....

Kiora Mon 05-Jan-15 18:58:51

Oh now I understand rosequartz Not. confused wish there was an [stupid emotion] just for me wink I have a dark brown one, a light blue one and a lovely shade of green one, no skeletons in my cupboard, unfortunately. I wish I'd miss spent my youth. Too late now. Bet HRH naughty A wishes he could say that with conviction today.

Perhaps Soutra was right with 'anus horribilis' then! grin

There seems to be a standard expression on the faces of all the male members of the royal family. It's kind of pinched, pained and twisted and looks as if they are staring myopically into the distance because they are too vain to wear glasses or are suffering from excruciating piles.

genetics.thetech.org/how-blue-eyed-parents-can-have-brown-eyed-children

I remember having a lecture on this years ago at work with some complicated charts, most of which I have forgotten, but the above is a fairly simple explanation.

Yes, I also worked with someone who was totally unlike the rest of her family - before we knew much about genetics.

Elegran Mon 05-Jan-15 17:40:17

Inconclusive, I think, rosequartz

Genetics are very complicated. Sometimes features appear which have been hidden for generations - and cause consternation.

Ana Mon 05-Jan-15 17:37:35

Him? confused

Kiora Mon 05-Jan-15 17:36:59

confused

Stansgran Mon 05-Jan-15 17:36:25

I was once at a golf club when Cilla Black's auntie shouted at him.

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 17:36:16

Still not sure where this is going .... or not as the case may be!

Nor in our family as we must both carry a recessive blue gene.
And a red haired gene
And a blond gene.

Yes, they are all ours!

Elegran Mon 05-Jan-15 17:33:25

What drip feeding? This is a scientific discussion of eye colour.

Two brown-eyed parents could each contribute a blue-eyed gene which had been hidden in them because their brown-eyen one was dominant, but if a child inherited the two blue-eyed genes, he/she would be blue-eyed.

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 17:20:59

Stop drip feeding! grin

Ana Mon 05-Jan-15 17:20:36

Yes, it's also a myth that if one parent has brown eyes any children will, too as the brown gene dominates. It doesn't always, as was the case in my ex's family.

Anne58 Mon 05-Jan-15 17:16:16

What rosequartz said!

(Sorry for slowness, having technical problems!)

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 17:05:22

Who, me? confused

Only making a comment on eye colour, not sure where this is going.
Ask phoenix - why??

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 05-Jan-15 17:00:04

shock !!!

Watch it!

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 16:58:37

That old thing about blue eyed parents not being able to produce a child with brown eyes is not strictly true - it is a general rule but a far too simplistic one.
Genetics is more complicated than that.

rosequartz Mon 05-Jan-15 16:55:11

Blue (or were when he was a toddler and they would not have changed since then)

Do tell!
