I've just been reading this. Apparently the company which is taking over assessments from ATOS is going to be paid twice as much, but employ fewer doctors to do the work.

Why am I not surprised? A doctor might feel that as a professional when he sees a sick person he has to say so. A pen pusher will just look at a form and say no.

Oh dear - how much better if this money were available for disabled claimants.

My friend with ovarian cancer has just had a follow-up assessment at home. The assessor refused to answer her questions as to what her qualifications and professional background were, saying that she was "not allowed" to tell her. The assessor was also very interested in whether she could touch her toes! - not particularly relevant in this situation.
