Really!! Can it really be true? The Scum newspaper is no longer printing topless models on Page Three. Fantastic news, after years of campaigning.
I bet the circulation numbers will fall though. It is certainly a step in the right direction, though it has taken a long time.

Really? Well, that's a relief. I'm off to the photographer first thing in the morning. Oh, I might find a footballer, too............?

WOOT !!!! Nips are back - could this have been a publicity stunt ?

Remember salad creme being withdrawn ?

gillybob Thu 22-Jan-15 08:23:27

Maybe a victory for common sense. If you don't want to look at it, don't buy it!

Iam64 Thu 22-Jan-15 13:29:24

I don't buy it gillybob but if I pick my car up from the garage or call in to the sandwich shop - there it'll be, page 3 open for all of us to 'enjoy'

sad

gillybob Thu 22-Jan-15 13:49:01

Which garage and sandwich shop do you visit Iam64 ? I have never seen Page 3 open for all to see in Greggs or Morrisons thats for sure.
Anyway there are far worse things to hurt your eyes than a pair of boobygons surely.

pompa Thu 22-Jan-15 16:31:38

I don't know ! I've seen a few nips that could take your eye out grin

vampirequeen Thu 22-Jan-15 17:43:14

I think they get left open when men have been browsing whilst in the queue to pay for their petrol.

Iam64 Thu 22-Jan-15 19:21:55

Exactly vampirequeen. A bit rude there gillybob to suggest I'm slumming…..

vampirequeen Thu 22-Jan-15 20:04:04

When I was a teacher we had to censor the paper we put on the tables before art lessons and take out the page 3 and page 5 girls.

Purpledaffodil Thu 22-Jan-15 21:47:06

I had to do that too Vampirequeen or yr 6 boys would never have got their painting done grin. Used to find them lurking in the stock cupboard too, leafing through the newspaper box. In the end I had to take my own newspapers in to save the aggro.

gillybob Thu 22-Jan-15 22:59:00

You are joking Iam64 aren't you ???

gillybob Thu 22-Jan-15 23:01:52

Don't know where you buy your petrol vampirequeen and Iam64 but I buy mine in Morrisons, BP, Shell and Asda and haven't seen any boobies in any of them. I will look closer tomorrow when I fill up.

rubylady Fri 23-Jan-15 03:28:56

It wouldn't bother me with the page 3 with buying The Sun but they were connected to the Hillsborough disaster weren't they? That is so much more a reason not to buy it.

rubylady Fri 23-Jan-15 03:30:25

Although they apologised, the press in general need to be careful what they publish and accuse people of. Especially the people of Liverpool!

thatbags Fri 23-Jan-15 06:40:07

You have to admire the gall of such a bold publicity stunt. With a publicity department that is this on the ball and this cheeky, perhaps it's no wonder the Sun newspaper is so popular.

vampirequeen Fri 23-Jan-15 07:36:54

You have to slum it like I do, gillybob grin. It tends to be where the workmen fill up their vans and wagons.

I swore I would never look at the Sun let alone buy it but then they started to offer Morrison vouchers. They have one that allows you to buy £10 worth of fruit and veg for £5 and you only have to buy one copy of the paper to get the it. To my shame when that voucher is available I take my Judas money blush

gillybob Fri 23-Jan-15 08:23:46

No shame in trying to save a penny or two vampirequeen . Cheapest petrol and diesel around here at the minute is Morrisons anyway. smile

Yes didn't they give free copies away to try and win the readers of Liverpool back rubylady?

Eloethan Fri 23-Jan-15 09:45:07

I'm amazed that women find these pictures acceptable. Somebody said they wouldn't want to see their daughter/grand daughter posing like this - why not if it is just good clean fun?

I agree though that page 3 pales into insignificance when compared to their coverage of Hillsborough, the quite disgusting "Gotcha" headline when the General Belgrano was sunk, offers of free "Sink the Argies" computer games, etc. etc. It truly is a vicious, juvenile, horrible newspaper.

gillybob Fri 23-Jan-15 10:10:42

That was me Eloethan ! I wouldn't want my DD or DGD to pose topless in a newspaper, magazine or whatever but the women who do it are not forced into doing so are they? They do it as a choice and are no doubt paid very well so I really can't see the problem. As I have said so many times before, none of us are forced into buying or looking at the Sun.

vampirequeen Fri 23-Jan-15 10:36:00

I agree with gillybob. It's not the career I would choose for my DD or DGD but if it was what they wanted to do and they were earning good money I would support them. Woman go topless on beaches and no one thinks twice about it.

vampirequeen Fri 23-Jan-15 10:37:16

Should have said....some women. I don't go topless.

gillybob Fri 23-Jan-15 10:41:30

I was thinking exactly the same vampirequeen. I would never go topless either. Won't even wear a bikini !

I find it more offending to see a huge woman topless on a beach and unless I move off the beach I have no choice but to see it ! I must say I hate to see old overweight men in budgie smugglers too. Yuk !

vampirequeen Fri 23-Jan-15 11:53:02

I don't mind people stripping off as long as it's in an appropriate place. I don't think family beaches are the place for topless bathing just because it leads to difficult questions I don't want to deal with on a day out if I can avoid it. I don't usually avoid difficult questions btw lol.

gillybob Fri 23-Jan-15 12:04:38

Fortunately, I haven't been on a beach with DGC where anyone has been topless but I could imagine their reaction. "Grandma, why has that lady got no clothes on?" Middle DGD is very funny and would probably laugh and say something like "Grandma I can see that ladies boobies and they're huge" in a VERY LOUD voice. grin

We don't have "body" hang-ups in our family at all and we are open to almost all questions, but I agree vampirequeen it isn't what you want on a family outing.
