Do we need three threads for this personally I think its about time we moved to a better model of care and support than traditional care homes and I have worked and managed many. My mother in law at 101 lives in an extra care facility which means she has her own flat, her own front door, there is a daily lunch provided but not compulsory and she has her own care and cleaning staff come in at times she has decided on. Communal activities are aid on but you don't have to participate. Funding is via her pension, what used to be called Supporting People payment which covered the rent not sure what its called now and Attendance Allowance. Her facility is provided by Genesis Housing Association - it all works very well and people some of whom are very frailphysically dependant are happy there.
