Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

merlotgran Fri 20-Mar-15 20:04:38

Yes. grin

Jane10 Fri 20-Mar-15 20:04:35

granjura I hardly think they're that desperate!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 20-Mar-15 19:51:28

You've got to give them points for this grin

granjura Fri 20-Mar-15 19:49:03

Jane10- they are all looking for new contracts elsewhere- so no wonder. It does look more and more as the whole thing was pre-meditated by the 3 of them as their contracts with the Beeb are up.

rosequartz Fri 20-Mar-15 19:41:40

Perhaps his lip got split on the cold cuts.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 20-Mar-15 19:32:00

Hmmm. I think we know there was kind of a 'hit'. Whether it was a full-on punch is another thing.

Ana Fri 20-Mar-15 19:29:33

We don't even know whether JC really did throw a punch yet, jngl!

Jane10 Fri 20-Mar-15 19:20:59

Having seen the news it looks like a million people think JC IS funny! You lot don't have to like him or actually watch him! James May and Richard Hammond have refused to continue Top Gear without him. That says something....

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 20-Mar-15 19:20:59

I wonder why JC really hit the producer. How the conversation really went leading up to the punch. Was it really just about dinner, or did one thing lead to another?

merlotgran Fri 20-Mar-15 18:40:33

That must be it, vq grin

vampirequeen Fri 20-Mar-15 18:39:17

He has a look of a werewolf lol.

merlotgran Fri 20-Mar-15 18:37:28

Oh No! I can't stand Guy Martin. I don't know why but he gives me the creeps hmm

vampirequeen Fri 20-Mar-15 18:34:57

I hope they keep JC. I would miss him terribly but if he has to be replaced I'd like it to be Guy Martin although he'd end up racing the Stig.

rosequartz Fri 20-Mar-15 18:13:02

Maybe some time out is what he needs

And some professional help - anger management?
I don't think the naughty step will be enough on its own.

Mishap Fri 20-Mar-15 17:43:46

I dislike JC's attitudes and the way he conveys them - but a bit of me also feels rather sorry for him. Anyone who feeds on publicity as he does and who gets so overwrought that he finds it hard to control his temper is not a happy bunny. You feel he is on the edge all the time. Maybe some time out is what he needs.

granjura Fri 20-Mar-15 17:26:20

like school lavatorial humour- it might have been funny once- but it is so so predictable and same old, same old- JC is just NOT funny anymore.

But again, I do wish they would get on with it. Either he hit the guy or he didn't.

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-15 16:57:15

But is it funny to insult people?

Jane10 Fri 20-Mar-15 16:39:03

No I don't jess. As ever it ain't what you say its the way that you say it! He's just plain funny!

posie Fri 20-Mar-15 12:30:10

Well I find the very contrived, carefully scripted humour boring JessM. As does my car mad son who used to enjoy watching it but now doesn't watch it as it's all so predictable.

KatyK Fri 20-Mar-15 12:29:11

I love James Martin! I do agree though that he wouldn't be 'edgy' enough. Jeremy Clarkson makes my skin crawl.

JessM Fri 20-Mar-15 12:16:59

You don't find all that contrived, carefully scripted humour boring then Jane10 ?

grumppa Thu 19-Mar-15 18:04:13

Which James Martin?

Jane10 Thu 19-Mar-15 17:49:51

But he's so boring compared to Jeremy!

merlotgran Thu 19-Mar-15 17:10:34

He'd be my choice as well, Juliette and he has a pilot's licence. Is that one up on JC?

Juliette Thu 19-Mar-15 16:13:25

James Martin.
Loves his cars, loves his food, loves his dog and even better loved his gran. What's not to like?
