Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:35:07

Nop way was I insinuating that you wwere being untruthful! Where did that come from? hmm

durhamjen Thu 12-Mar-15 19:34:20

Read it, thatbags. I would not suffer if I did not see him again.
We, the licence payers, pay his wages. I resent paying anything towards keeping him on the screens, and cannot understand how he has lasted so long.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:34:17

Maybe. But I'll bet those head injuries and the like you used to nurse go back a darned sight further than 2002.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:32:49

From the Mirror article

"Auntie is a great institution but she’s prone to being prim and priggish, self-satisfied and smug. "

Yeah. And not only "Auntie". hmm

loopylou Thu 12-Mar-15 19:31:00

You certainly don't know me - I am not retired jingl, so your assumptions are far from true. I'm 61 and strongly object to you doubting my post and insinuating I am being untruthful.
I also still volunteer for a head injury charity that mainly works with the age group I used to nurse.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:30:07

The fact that you were in an accident due to speeding, when you were 19, rather illustrates the point that accidents have always happened. hmm

I think the grin to illustrate my laughing at that post, was well desrved.

thatbags Thu 12-Mar-15 19:27:42

This is the Mirror's take.

granjura Thu 12-Mar-15 19:26:59

No judgement meant at all- but in response to your post saying 'you can't see anything wrong with GCs watching TG- and no harm done.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:25:12

"having spent a number of years working with young people whose lives and brains have been wrecked irretrievably through car crashes, and supported their devastated families whose dreams have been destroyed," (Quoting loopylou)

Considering the fact that before 2002 Top Gear was a much tamer version of the present show - and I assume loopylou is now retired - it just doesn't sound very plausible.

merlotgran Thu 12-Mar-15 19:23:37

That was to granjura

merlotgran Thu 12-Mar-15 19:23:19

Please don't criticise the examples we set for our grandchildren. You don't know me and you have absolutely no right to judge me. angry

loopylou Thu 12-Mar-15 19:19:53

Impressionable young (mainly male) young drivers are influenced by a range of media, and yes, TG is one, where irresponsible driving is considered funny (see eloethan's post above) and 'clever'

granjura Thu 12-Mar-15 19:19:03

Me too-I was mangled in a terrible car crash when I was 19- due to a friend speeding- 6 months in hospital, 2 years to learn to walk again, and now a knees that will soon need replacing due to the consequences- it does change the way you see things.

Union members who need to be dragged out and shot in front of their families (by someone who ever uses public transport btw)

finding the suffering of cows falling about with BSE the most hilarious thing ever?

Blind people, handicapped people, ethnic minorities being the butt of jokes- people who are so depressed and without hope and decide to commit suicide a pain in the *e- and more. And it is bitter and twisted to not fall about laughing ??? I'd say that, yes, it does say a lot about those who support him and their own views. Merlot- are the above views really a great example for grand-children? Really?

durhamjen Thu 12-Mar-15 19:16:45

Hard to tell how much of it was down to Top Gear, jingl. I'm certain some of it must have been?
I also think that grinning after that remark was rather tasteless.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:15:58

I'm not sure Eloethan. confused But a lot of these posts come across as such.

Anniebach Thu 12-Mar-15 19:15:56

How can anyone be too white or too British , trust the mail to bring politics into it

durhamjen Thu 12-Mar-15 19:14:38

Brilliant, Flickety. I wasn't sure whether I was expected to sign or not!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:14:16

Oh, and that was all down to Top Gear, was it? grin

loopylou Thu 12-Mar-15 19:09:28

Meaning who jingl?
And having spent a number of years working with young people whose lives and brains have been wrecked irretrievably through car crashes, and supported their devastated families whose dreams have been destroyed, I clearly have a very different perspective and sense of humour to you.

granjura Thu 12-Mar-15 19:07:40

Same question?!?

Eloethan Thu 12-Mar-15 19:06:09

What exactly do you think people are "bitter and twisted" about jingle?

Mishap Thu 12-Mar-15 19:03:25

I admit to a complete sense of humour failure when it comes to these sort of driving antics and to JC's attitude to cars - I hold my hand up to this very happily. Working on a trauma unit concentrates the mind.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:01:39

Perhaps some of the bitter and twisted stuff on this thread says more about the posters than anything else.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 19:00:56

He won't lose his looks because he's not a particularly handsome man. His face shows character and a love of life. That doesn't go with age.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Mar-15 18:59:58

Yes. I like that article merlot.

" Funny how the Lefties at the BBC were quick to proclaim ‘Je Suis Charlie’ after a French magazine offended Muslims, but never declare themselves ‘Je Suis Jeremy’ whenever he upsets someone." I like that bit too.
