I won't watch anything with Jonathan Ross or Russell Brand after that mess they got into over the phone call to Andrew Sachs. I certainly won't watch anything in which Jeremy Clarkson appears either, not that I did before come to that. I quite like HIGNFY, but won't watch it if JC is appearing. I am very selective in what I watch on TV these days.

I believe that I would say that this was a pre-arranged booking, and that the BBC had only banned him from TG. As far as I can gather, that would be a factual explanation.

My grandsons are old enough to form their own opinions, granjura and that goes for my DGDs as well.

I think there was a bit more to Angus Deyton's sacking than just taking drugs - if it had just been that they'd have to sack half the BBC staff! Allegedly.

Angus Deyton was sacked from HIGNFY for being caught taking drugs. Jeremy Clarkson is allowed to appear after an act of violence.

I wouldn't watch him on any programme.

As I said, he'd already signed up for the HIGNFY appearance/s.

It may not seem right, but the BBC has only 'sacked' him from Top Gear.

The BBC- beggars belief! If he had to be sacked from on programme due to his outrageous behaviour and violence- employing hime on any other programme is totally out of order imho.

I'll definitely watch it. Hislop and Merton will have a field day and Clarkson is very good on HIGNFY.

I won't either, I'm not cutting off my nose to spite my face! It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the panel behave towards him.

I think it was a long-standing booking, there was always the assumption that he'd be allowed to record the episodes of HIGNFY even when the BBC was umming and ahing about whether to renew his contract or not.

I agree Nankate , I too will be giving those episodes a miss.

So JC has been brought back into the fold by being invited to host a couple of episodes of Have I Got News For You. I bet he will get lots of applause when he comes on. I for one will miss one of my favourite programmes when he is chairman.

Guy Martin is a nice enough chap but DH and I find we need subtitles to understand what he's saying.

The Daily Wail this morning is criticising the BBC for paying for bodyguards in response to a death threat against the DG. Given the reports being published again, about a similar threat against Jill Dando a week before she was murdered, what choice to the Beeb have? They have a duty of care to their staff and the police may just be a bit busy elsewhere…..
