Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

If you had the number of posts per page set at 50 like me, there'd only be 11 pages to read!

It seems a particularly nasty way to go about getting sacked on purpose, I'd have thought he'd have done something outrageous but which wouldn't show him in a bad light to the general public. Although 'his' public don't seem to care...hmm

How many of the morons who voted for his retention at BBC would say the same if it was their family member who was assaulted? I haven't read the whole of this post, but think that the producer who was allegedly assaulted has kept a quiet dignity about the whole affair, more than can be said for the loud mouth Clarkson. Also, I have wondered if the whole thing was engineered by Clarkson? He sold his share in Top Gear for a huge amount of money last year, and now that he has been fired by the BBC he can go and work for his buddies at News Corp/Sky; after all he writes for The Sun and hunts with Rebecca Brooks. Sorry if this has been raised previously, but I couldnt read the entire 21 pages of this OP!

Clarkson has had an on-going feud with Piers Morgan (another one we either like or loathe). He commented on Twitter about Clarkson's sacking and someone has tweeted back to him 'why can't today's breaking news be that you have been found dead?' Sounds like Clarkson has some very pleasant supporters.

Including David Cameron (who thought it was right to include his 11 year old daughter in the appeal to keep Clarkson on). What does that say about DC's attitude to violence? Can we expect a retraction from him?

feetlebaum Wed 25-Mar-15 15:14:59

Most of them certainly. The point is that they enjoy his performance - nothing to do with his behaviour off-screen.

Eloethan Wed 25-Mar-15 15:06:29

And he had the nerve to act like he'd somehow been victimised, calling the BBC "fucking bastards".

I wonder how many of those people that signed a petition in support of him would still think he deserved to stay on - I fear quite a few of them.|

KatyK Wed 25-Mar-15 14:54:33

I agree and apparently it was preceded by a 20 minute foul mouthed tirade. Horrible creature.

Anya Wed 25-Mar-15 14:52:06

I'd heard mutterings of a split lip. Violence is never acceptable.

gillybob Wed 25-Mar-15 14:49:10

Blimey KatyK shock Well if that's the case he certainly deserved to be sacked.

KatyK Wed 25-Mar-15 14:41:47

Apparently he has now been sacked by the BBC. The report says that he punched the producer so hard in the mouth that he had to attend A&E.

I think the reason this thread has run to 21 pages (so far) is because everyone is enjoying themselves - more than they would on a politics thread perhaps?

merlotgran Sat 21-Mar-15 19:14:26

Feeble??

Maybe we should have a tut tut emoticon

Anya Sat 21-Mar-15 19:10:33

You may well be right Ana - he still needs a boot up the posterior though!

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 18:58:31

Yes, but wasn't it clutching pearls, not handbags?

Anya Sat 21-Mar-15 18:57:14

I think "Feeble* has said that before....hmm

Mishap Sat 21-Mar-15 18:56:41

Money talks it would seem!

I would not want to be his "minder" - I would demand a crash helmet and suit of armour!

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 18:44:05

Oh, thanks merlot!

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 18:43:11

Your google is as good as mine, absent!

According to DM

I accept that the BBC makes a lot of money through Top Gear being shown in countries all over the world but I have read estimates of how much that vary between £30 and £55 million. Does anyone know the actual figure?

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 18:17:05

exclusive

rosequartz Sat 21-Mar-15 18:16:51

I saw that too, online somewhere (sorry, I read it and it flitted through my mind). He will have a different producer who will take charge of him.
Will they ever find anyone?

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 18:16:45

Another DM excusive!

I havent seen what you are talking about Jane10, but a "minder" gives me a mental image of him being about 6.
I have an image of him being on reins next.

Mishap Sat 21-Mar-15 18:13:13

Where did you find that piece of info Jane? - I can't find it on the net.
