Inflation is now zero, will you delay purchases?

No we only replace things when they are needed not simply wanted. The really worrying thing is that this means no pension rise next year for those of us on index linked pensions but there will still be price rises.

We did get a very good price and we are very pleased with it.
The 20% VAT is very annoying though, as George was not actually here himself wielding a paintbrush.

We will buy a big item if we really need it, however we would like a new bathroom, but will wait awhile for that, as we just had a good holiday and you can't have everything.

Yes it was painting the whole outside. I actually thought it was not a bad price, considering the work involved.

I know VAT is a tax that everyone pays etc. but it does seem like your paying for nothing at the time!

Its hard to believe we actually have zero inflation. I just always assumed inflation would go up. Just used to it I guess. I read today that apparently its 'good' inflation though. So that's all right! (whatever that means)

Ours cost about a quarter of that (but perhaps your house is four times bigger than mine )

Oh - we are only half rendered, so perhaps our house is half as big!!

I buy as and when needed, don't even think about inflation.

It's not always the cost of having work done that is the issue, it's the 20% VAT put that ups the price, £3000 to paint a house, suddenly becomes £3600!

I want a new kitchen, the house to be re-furbished, ceilings plastered etc.

But that is want, not need, and I can't because I have just bought a new(ish) car!
At least I can sit in that if I feel fed up, I may even be able to afford some fuel for it!

I buy things when I need them, not before, nor do I delay buying them once they are needed.

I think these delayed purchases refer to the kind of people who refit their kitchens/change all their appliances/buy a new car every time fashion changes or a new model comes out.

I think the economy gas worked so all these indexes come at the right time so I won't be putting off any purchases. Don't think much improves after elections.

Unfortunately I cannot. My car, washing machine and computer each decided to take a permanent holiday within a fortnight of each other and I cannot live without any of them so it has been hard since Christmas.

If you can work like that with your finances, then good luck to you. I have to buy things we need in the months when there aren't at least ten family birthdays, or Christmas, to cope with.
