I just also want to say that politics is brutal.
Someone said that just a few hours ago, Ed Balls may have thought that he stood a reasonable chance of being Chancellor of the Exchequer, and now he has his P45.

I also think that some people, both politicains and otherwise, are going to feel hurt and bewildered and frightened by the result, while others are jubilant.
An emotional time for many.

Well said, roses. TBH I'm glad Vince Cable and Simon Hughes have gone, they didn't do the Lib Dems' image any good. I wonder who the new leader will be?

I find it weird that a conservative majority of 1 is seen as workable. When in elections in the past, it was thought that to have a working majority to sustain a parliament, was seen as about 8 at least.

We have two threads now about the election!I believe it's an excellent outcome, and if the country does well, there will be more money to support those who need it, those who vote Lib Dem and Conservative care just as much about poor people and those with disabilities as those who vote Labour, and it seems to be a lazy assumption on here that they do not.
Nick Clegg just gave a very good speech, he has resigned now, and it was probably needed for the party to go ahead with a new leader.Conservatives only need one more vote now for a majority!

Labour supporters may wish to reflect that Ed Milliband was forced on to the PLP by the union vote; perhaps the Labour MPs were right to favour David.

I do not agree with all the Conservatives have done/will do but the reaction of Labour supporters openly blaming, deriding anyone who did not vote in a similar way to themselves is very unedifying. This is democracy and the election is a democratic process - we should be glad we live in such a society.

Perhaps Ed Balls will now take some time to learn his tables. Will Ed Milliband be ''clear about this'' now and what on earth is he going to do with his promises in stone ?
I am with the minority of people on here and pleased that Ed and Ed are not going to be in charge.
