Tony Blair appointed as head of European body fighting antisemitism.

Cant he see what damage he has already created in the Middle East, and of course at home sending our troops to war unprepared.

He is such a hypocrite.

That is a point trisher, and I agree that his only interest is saving his own skin, because who knows what is going to be revealed. Such a pity, he started with so much promise and it went so badly wrong.

geeljay Sun 25-Oct-15 13:15:27

Mr Blair is interested in only one thing. Saving his own skin, and desperately trying to create something for which he will be remembered. Other than Iraq!

trisher Sun 25-Oct-15 13:12:42

But so many of us told him it wouldn't work-the British people- and he didn't listen. Too far in Bush's pocket to hear!
And has been said before having spent years supplying Saddam we were hardly doing nothing!

nigglynellie Sun 25-Oct-15 12:15:13

' The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good men do nothing' Edmund Burke?, maybe maybe not.

I actually thought that this was how T.B felt about Iraq under Sadam Hussain, and that we were good men trying to do something. I still just feel that this was the thinking behind it, but I expect I'm wrong. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and if it had worked, and had freed the people of Iraq from tyranny T.B would have be a hero, but it didn't and he's not!

In the words of the song-"Too much, too little, too late..." If he was misguided it was nothing to do with his religion (unless you count Bush worship as such).

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 25-Oct-15 11:33:05

My post there is with hindsight, of course.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 25-Oct-15 11:31:49

I think TB was simply, and disastrously, misguided. He is a Christian. No point in knocking his religion.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 25-Oct-15 11:29:42

The Chilcot report is coming out in the next few days anyway.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 25-Oct-15 11:29:07

I heard about this on Broadcasting House this morning. Interesting that he said the Iraq war might have had something to do with the rise of IS. He then went on to say that the Arab Spring would obviously have contributed to it.

But would the Arab Spring have happened if the region had been left alone? I'm not saying that the Arab Spring was a bad thing necessarily. Just wondering really.

durhamjen Sun 25-Oct-15 11:17:18

Good heavens, he's apologised for Iraq - sort of.

Not here, of course, but to CNN.
I think it means the Chilcot report can no longer be delayed.

Are you suggesting TB is too modest to claim any credit, trisher?

And have there been any solutions?

Sorry if I have misinterpreted your post.

I'm also wondering about the comments Cherie Blair made about suicide bombers. I'm not suggesting she is anti-semitic in any way but her pro Palestinian stance might just raise a few eyebrows in the Israeli camp as they are encouraging European Jews to emigrate.

"Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast and give to the poor. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. "
This is a quote from a Libby Purves article. It makes me think of Tony B. Perhaps the reason he made labour electable Crun is cos he is a Tory!!

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:47:36

Not TB at all, it maggi thatcher and Churchill !! Thank god,

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:40:53

Oops sorry jollyg ! Misspelled you

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:39:16

Jolygog too true !!!

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:35:54

Yes agree ... There's a lot of blogs using the TB, I think just like that horrid disease ...he should be demoted !!

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:30:18

That's wonderful news ! But will it happen ?

trisher Fri 05-Jun-15 10:29:30

merlotgran I don't know of any acheivements as Middle East PE, but I wonder, if you initiate something and huge problems arise out of your actions is it then acceptable to claim any credit for finding solutions?

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:27:37

Loopyloo this is excaltly how I feel too !
Out ! Out! Out!

greatmum Fri 05-Jun-15 10:24:51

Yes I agree, about time some honesty is put into action,
He should be demoted, relieved of all the money he made at our expense, and imprisoned for as many years as he was taking us all for idiots!!

loopylou Fri 05-Jun-15 06:28:35

I totally agree jollyg

His morals are highly suspicious and he makes me shudder.

jollyg Fri 05-Jun-15 05:35:51

Not a person to be championing religion, especially not in colaboration with Moshe Kantor,

By creating war in Iraq he misunderstood the various sects of Islam.

Shia, Sunni, and Ismaili, and the divisions that separate them rather than unite them . More unnecessary bloodshed and hatred.

He is also a supported of Kigame of Rwanda, genocide on a huge scale there too.

He calls himself a Christian? The only God he loves is money.

tigger Thu 04-Jun-15 23:45:35

Actually, thought he was a breath of fresh air who shook up the Tories. You will note that Cameron is trying to emulate the Blair persona. However, hope he does a better job in his new role than he did in his last one.

trisher Thu 04-Jun-15 21:48:12

Just another step in his lucrative career. I never liked him. I once heard someone describe him as "Machiavellian" most appropriate I thought.

soontobe Thu 04-Jun-15 21:26:34

Sometimes though, it can be about what has been prevented, but not sure that he or anyone can claim something about that. Though prevention is often difficult to measure.
