Concern within the Labour Party that Jeremy Corbyn is doing well

A Labour pressure group has asked party members to vote against Jeremy Corbyn in the leadership contest.

Tristram Hunt was also saying, on Marr this morning, that Labour needs an English Labour party as they now have Welsh Labour and Scottish Labour.

This has left me cogitating about where the Labour Party will go.

I'm easily confused

soontobe Mon 17-Aug-15 13:21:08

I will double check Ana.

gillybob Mon 17-Aug-15 13:21:05

Ana grin

Gracesgran Mon 17-Aug-15 13:21:02

gillybob: Only responding to Anniebach's "public confession" that she "has friends who are tories" as though they were lepers or murderers. grin

Oh no I forgot that a good Labour supporter would NEVER read the Daily Mail durhamjen they would read a real newspaper like The Mirror!

What a nasty, personal post that has nothing to do with the topic. Another person on my "ignore" list.

Indeed Eleothan - people are bound to question the effectiveness of the austerity programme. There are differences of opinion amongst economists about how to get out of a recession. The solution of this government is a very bitter pill for the poorest to swallow.

I think you mean gillybob, Anniebach?

What a knowledgable, thoughtful post Eloethan

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 13:13:51

I think the very same Eloethan , why are they in such a panic , what do they fear, reminds one of the ridiculing of UKIP , this turned to panic, people panic when they fear , I doubt the Tories are concerned that the Labour Party will disintegrate so what is their constant attacks on Corbyn for

Ana Mon 17-Aug-15 13:12:26

What - ground troops? confused

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 13:08:27

Perhaps you will find them at your local pharmacy Soontobe , hope so

Eloethan Mon 17-Aug-15 13:05:37

Those of you who think Corbyn is unelectable because he is part of the "Loony Left" should be delighted that the majority of the establishment - be they "left", "right" or "centre" - agree with you. Since it has been decided that JC is a walking disaster and has no chance whatsoever of winning an election, even if he does manage to scrape through for Labour, I can't understand why so much energy is being used to discredit him.

Toby Young appeared on a news programme the other night, red in face and treating the prospect of JC winning with sneering contempt, and I wondered why he was so concerned if JC is such an irrelevance. Perhaps because more and more people are at least questioning the so-called "austerity programme", the role of the state in protecting all its population, etc., etc. that really worries the powerful, i.e. they are scared of the idea more than the person.

gillybob Mon 17-Aug-15 13:04:42

Oh dear Anniebach I think someone needs a chill pill.

How sad for someone not to try and see the funny side of something THEY posted.

You can call me bitter, sad or whatever you like but ONE thing you should know about me is that I can laugh at myself.

soontobe Mon 17-Aug-15 12:59:03

Donald Trump[very right wing Republican?] also says that the supply of money through oil needs to be stopped. By using ground troops I think.

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:56:38

We are assisting the USA in bombing Syria even though the house voted against it Cameron ignored the vote and sent airmen to America to carry out bombing.

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:52:33

gillybob, that you thought as you did of my comment I have Tory friends says much about your bitter thoughts, how sad to see bad in the most innocent of comments

Ana Mon 17-Aug-15 12:44:51

I expect you agree with him on everything, durhamjen.

durhamjen Mon 17-Aug-15 12:40:59

“Terrorist attacks on British citizens will not be prevented by bombing parts of Syria from 30,000 feet. The US is already bombing Syria and this has not stopped ISIL.

“Two years ago I voted against bombing Syria when the enemy was the Assad government. I oppose bombing Syria when ISIL is the target for the very same reason – it will be the innocent Syrians who will suffer – exacerbating the refugee crisis.

“We need to cut off the supply of money and arms that is flowing to ISIL, some from our supposed allies in the region.”

Just for you, soon.
I agree with Corbyn on that.

gillybob Mon 17-Aug-15 12:40:23

Only responding to Anniebach's "public confession" that she "has friends who are tories" as though they were lepers or murderers. grin

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:34:15

if Corbyn said rain was wet it would cause hysteria Soontobe

soontobe Mon 17-Aug-15 12:31:42

I cant find that JC has said anything about talks with IS. They are nowhere near that in my opinion.

JCs words of "friends" and "honoured citizen" is bound to raise awkward questions.

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:14:23

Why not talk soon? and why not listen?

soontobe Mon 17-Aug-15 12:06:16

What does JC say about IS. Talks as well? I will google.

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:05:52

Just received my ballot papers

Anniebach Mon 17-Aug-15 12:04:54

And you know Soontobe just what was said in the Corbyn talks ?
