Concern within the Labour Party that Jeremy Corbyn is doing well

Quite interesting to read the 10 points JC is putting forward under the Standing to Deliver heading

I think many of them will appeal to people outside the LP as well as in.

According to an article I've just read in the Guardian, Corbyn is the one that most people agree with in most parties.
Of course, many people will say that's so that the Labour party is led by someone who will lose in 2020, but if he is the leader then, it will be interesting to see what happens in Scotland.

I was thinking that, durhamjen. Seems like he may well regain some of the Labour seats lost in Scotland. Maybe a tie-up with the SNP? I wonder how Nicola would view that possibility?

I don't understand why we keep hearing it would be 'impossible' for JC to win at the next general election. If he has so many supporters why is it 'impossible'?

They are bringing out the big guns now. Tony Blair, Alistair Campbell, Jack Straw et al have managed to increase Corbyn's rating, so now Gordon Brown is going to warn the Labour voters!

Well George Galloway on his program on Russia Today said he had worked for years to get to see the day the left regained politics. He thinks Corbyn will get 70% of the vote .

Galloway said that Corbyn could funnily enough be the saviour of the Union as only he can regain votes for Labour in Scotland and the SNP will be seen as Tory . Scotland will be interesting to keep an eye on. Not only for any Labour gains but how the SNP will behave, will the SNP embrace Corbyn ???

The knives have been sharpened for a while, hardly recent, as I said on another thread. ABC has been the byword Anyone But Corbyn.

There is so much anymosity for Corbyn's ideas from within the party, not particularly the man himself, what will the likes of Cooper, Burnham, Danczuk, Mann, Kendal etc. etc. do. Will they have any credibility having been so profuse with their comments such as he has no financial credibility, taking us back to a bygone era etc. How can they just say "OK, I will get behind him". Could they sacrifice their strongly held views for the sake of the party and if they do couldn't it eventually prove too much and Labour splits into 2 parties eventually. Them on one side, Corbyn, Abbott etc. on the other side. Again interesting to watch how it unfolds.

They can return to the back benches , Ted Heath did so and he was certaintly knifed by Thatcher. If they are true socialists they will stay with the party

Yes they can Annie and I agree there are many instances where people have stabbed others in the back, politics is a dirty game.

That does not mean it is not going to happen again does it. Labour have been so open about their differences it is a fair question to ask, point to raise.

For all we know there will be another chance to see this in operation when Cameron jacks it all in and the Conservatives fight like cats in a sack.

POGS Thank you for being our reporter - it is not a programme I listen to but it is interesting to here the effect this election is having from the left to the right and everyone in between.

I agree that it will be difficult for some of the characters to go forward in a Corbyn led shadow cabinet although he, himself, seems to be very inclusive but he would only be able to go so far. I also think they must be realising that even if they try to stop him there is a big movement behind him so what will that mean?

Russia Today is worth a viewing . I find like Aljazeera it has more coverage than our somewhat lazy news media over world politics and you can follow up something raised if it interests you to confirm it's credibility, it can be partisan.. Aljazeera is particularly well done, although it appears from past postings some can't believe that as it produced in Doha and London and prejudices take over.

Of course it is a 'slight propaganda machine' for anti British USA but it all makes interesting viewing. George Galloway, Jeremy Corbyn, Dianne Abbot, Paul Flynn etc. are often being interviewed. I have seen members of all parties so I only mention them to 'wet the whistle' for Labour supporters.

Give them a try, after all they are free to watch.

I was not patronising when I said 'wet the whistle of' Labour supporters. I was talking to Gracesgran and I would hope it was not taken as patronising by most reading my post.

Of course there will be a handful but I am so used to it now it is like waters off a ducks back because it is so predictable.

I find Michael Meacher , known as Tony Benn's 'vicar on earth' a complicated character.

He has spoken against private education yet went to an Independent, fee paying school, Berkhamsted, which I believe he says gave him a good education. I heard him once in parliament castigating the wealthy Tories and their public school boy education . He went to Oxford himself. No problem going to a fee paying school or Oxford but don't look a fool when you are talking about yourself too.

He spoke against the principal of owning a second home yet he has a substantial property portfolio.

He has more or less signed up as Sept 11th as being a US government conspiracy if I have read things correctly.

If Corbyn becomes Labour Leader I would hazard a guess Meacher will be in the shadow cabinet.

So not surprised he has made the comments in the link. He could be right but it probably won't be a surprise to those in the Blair administration he served with either as Blair kept him in ministerial posts never in his cabinet.

It is good to hear a politician who has a genuine concern for those who are disadvantaged and who appears to have some integrity. I am amazed that his opponents cannot see that the more they "dis" him, the more squeaky clean and principled he appears.

I think it would be good if he won, because I think it will precipitate a shake-up within this and other parties that might result in a bit more transparency and clarity. Labour is no longer Labour - Blair saw to that; at least if JC wins then those who have drifted too far from its basic principles will have to get out.

I would be happier with parties that really were what they claimed, rather than, as Labour has been doing, hiding behind a facade of being a Labour party whilst actually being something quite different.

At least we will know what we are voting for or against.
