Labour Leadership watch

I thought, as the message says "start a new thread" that I should.

A quote from an article by Jeremy Corby to start this thread off.

"Ours is a democratic socialist party. Nearly 300,000 people now have that on the back of their Labour Party membership card. Our members and supporters have ideas, experience and knowledge that are a valuable resource - and none more so than our local councillors; often, the most innovative ideas are delivered in local government. Shadow minister and policy advisers do not have a monopoly on wisdom, so the must interact with party members and supporters. By making policy together, we make better policy"

and a little further on ...

"I stood in this campaign to open up a debate, to engage new people and to rebuild our party as the movement it needs to be. That is not just an approach for the leadership election but one to win in 2020."

Why should any member of this forum accept personal remarks that cannot be backed up Elegran? Can you imagine what we could descend to? Perhaps Gransnet itself would like to comment. It would have been very easy for rosesarered to explain why she thought I was being "rude" but she hasn't so I must assume she can't and that therefore there was no "rudeness" just an explanation. I don't believe that the odd remark like this, very personally directed, is acceptable but if that is how these discussions are to go then I have no problem with standing my ground.

It is simple - how was I rude? If I was I will be quite happy to apologise. If I wasn't ... rosesarered only needs to explain.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 15:12:24

Was trying for a ' silence' ( dignified or not) but the outraged requests to justify just went on and on.
It's getting boring. Let golden silence reign.

Notso Wed 26-Aug-15 15:04:45

Indeed Elegran.

Elegran Wed 26-Aug-15 15:02:45

Just as well not all the threads are so tit-for-tat, notso but a few heads could be advantageously knocked together. Whatever happened to grown-up dignified silence in the face of provocation? Did it get lost in a cat-fight?

Notso Wed 26-Aug-15 14:57:50

Just adding my two pennorth.....this constant tit for tatness is the reason I rarely post on GN any more. I wonder how many others it puts off.

As to the indignant requests to justify or explain yourself for anything you've said......sorry, but no. Not unless you're a family member, an employer or the Police....and I'd probably still say get lost to the first two.

Eloethan Wed 26-Aug-15 14:43:12

rosesarered If you accuse people of being rude you should be prepared to substantiate your remark.

You make silly comments like "the People's Assembly" sounds "smug" and then tell me to "let it go" because you can't give a rational explanation for what you mean.

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 14:09:58

You "told me" did you rosesarered? Why do you find it so difficult - well so far impossible - to explain. Could it be that it was a reasoned explanation with nothing rude in it? If so an apology wouldn't go amiss.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 13:55:44

For the very last time, GG, I told you to re-read your posts to me, if you can't see anything rude there, I will be surprised ( or maybe not.)

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 13:49:10

Indeed it is somewhere to discuss and chat - but not to abuse our fellow GNs rosesarered. You obviously feel that is OK as you have made no attempt to explain why you called me this.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 13:42:21

This is a forum for grans to chat, not a court of law GG and I think I have wasted enough of my time already.

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 13:39:28

No, rosesarered, personally offended. You do not seem to be able, in any way, to substantiate your remark. I wonder what level of discussion you feel we should be having when I, having taken the time to explain why I do not think anyone should feel able to label someone else on the basis of what they read on this forum, receive a reply to tell me I am being "rude" with nothing whatsoever to back up that derogatory remark.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 13:37:28

So, a great deal of others on this forum, and in the real world do not 'get' Socialism? Really? I think you will find that I, and others do get it, as a concept but refuse to let it into power.I am not attacking anyone, but answering their own rather aggressive questions.I have been honest in saying I have Lib Dem as well as Conservative views, and was pleased when they power shared up to this last election. However, if that couldn't happen again this time then I make no bones about saying that I am glad the Conservatives got in, and not Labour. In other words, if you haven't already got it, I am not left wing, but equally think it's a shame that the Labour Party is imploding in such a spectacular way.I will never agree with your views, and you will never agree with mine, so what's new?

durhamjen Wed 26-Aug-15 13:24:37

Socialist views are about other people, roses. It's sad that you do not get it.
I think you are backing yourself into a corner here, by attacking all of us at once.
That's all you are doing. What happened to your liberal democratic views?
I feel sorry for you.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 13:02:34

GG what are you, a headmistress?

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 13:00:54

On the contrary WW, as I said before, if you dish it out you should be prepared to take it, I say what I think, and expect others to do the same.

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 12:59:50

Perhaps GG you should re-read your own posts.

No rosesarered you have made a very personal accusation. I think it is for you to show where you believe I have been rude. Throwing it back to me is not an explanation of such a personal comment. If you are going to say someone is being "rude" you really do need to be able to support it. So far you have just made empty comments to back up a personal remark - please explain.

whitewave Wed 26-Aug-15 12:55:28

rose take a deep breath you seem to be losing it.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 12:48:39

Perhaps GG you should re-read your own posts.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 12:47:56

If you are interested in other people, Djen, it doesn't show, you seem to have tunnel vision and dismiss any views other than Socialist ones.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 12:44:36

As are yours Djen.

durhamjen Wed 26-Aug-15 12:36:33

So how are the poor huddled masses a narrow band?
Your comments are getting more and more ridiculous, roses.

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 12:29:08

No it isn't rosesarered. You have accused me, personally, of being rude. I would like you to explain what I said that was "rude" in any way.

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 12:24:34

Good one GG grin

Gracesgran Wed 26-Aug-15 12:24:26

Question to rosesarered

rosesarered Wed 26-Aug-15 12:23:52

Djen, yes, the poor huddled masses. You have no other topic.

Eloethan, 'let it go' it just does suggest smugness, that's all.
