Margaret Thatcher came to power in 1979, that's over 30 years ago I think. ?.

This question should separate the men from the boys, as the saying goes.

Right people, "gloves off".

On your marks, get set, go.....................

Alea Fri 28-Aug-15 09:50:51

gringrin

PS The OP said the question should separate the men from the boys (sexist remark or what!)
How many who responded are female?

That's why the answers are so sensible (another sexist remark)

rosequartz Fri 28-Aug-15 09:31:22

New house could mean new carpets
Butter on paws could mean grease on the new carpet.

I knew there was a reason why we never had a cat.
(Besides the thought of all the furry and feathered presents they bring in.)

Ps just a thought - why are those bows called 'pussycat bows'? I have never seen any self-respecting cat wearing one.

Don't bother answering, I'm going out - again!
(Have to escape from GN sometimes otherwise .....)

Good grief, bossy iPad, NADAL not " nasal"!!!

Alea Fri 28-Aug-15 09:28:06

Not Marmite, Nasal and Nutella, that would require a LLDgrin!!

merlotgran Fri 28-Aug-15 09:24:26

May I ask where you put the cat while it's licking 'em clean?

rosesarered Fri 28-Aug-15 09:19:52

We always used to butter our cat's paws when we moved house. The idea is that he will then associate the new house with nice things, as he licks them clean!

kittylester Fri 28-Aug-15 09:17:53

Don't Galen you'd need to have a lie down and then you'd miss you cruise! grin

Galen Fri 28-Aug-15 09:04:43

I'm still trying to imagine buttered Nadel with marmite.

MiniMouse Fri 28-Aug-15 08:09:06

Questiontime's gone very quiet! Perhaps the butter on his or her paws experiment failed and s/he is lost in the woods. Watch out for the Big Bad Wolf wink

Ariadne Fri 28-Aug-15 07:53:56

I love the way my GN friends are handling this! I just saw and ignored the original post, thinking "Oh no, not again." But this has made me smile. grin

Indinana Fri 28-Aug-15 07:48:47

Or should I say, a cat's never owned me. They're obviously very wise.

Indinana Fri 28-Aug-15 07:48:12

Perhaps it's just as well I've never owned a cat grin

Anya Fri 28-Aug-15 07:21:12

Yer wot?

absent Fri 28-Aug-15 07:01:11

Has any gransnetter actually buttered a cat's paws? I have had cats around me most of my adult life and I'd rather try bathing them and soaking them overnight in Domestos than buttering their paws.

merlotgran Thu 27-Aug-15 23:14:38

Do wonders for fur balls as well. grin

Nelliemoser Thu 27-Aug-15 23:10:54

Add some Marmite to the butter on the cats paws and it would certainly not stray.

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:46:26

And then he'd be stranded in the woods! shock sad

merlotgran Thu 27-Aug-15 22:36:18

I thought that as well, Ana but I suppose if you put loads of butter on each paw you'd get a kind of Hansel and Gretel effect so when the cat gets lost it can find its way back by licking its own pawprints. hmm

That's assuming all the neighbourhood cats haven't beaten him to it.

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 22:34:48

Oo-er Elegran!grin

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:32:22

I thought you put butter on a cat's paws to keep it at home (i.e. when you move house and the cat's not well pleased about it!)

Elegran Thu 27-Aug-15 22:30:56

I don't know though . . .

Indinana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:28:31

That was crumpets with lots of butter, not Rafa Nadal...

Indinana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:27:23

With lots of butter. The sort you put on cat's paws so they can find their way home.

Anya Thu 27-Aug-15 22:25:46

Can we have a link please Alea ?
