This is Alex Salmond's comment on how Cameron is dealing with the migrant crisis.

As shame in my countries response was what I have been feeling, I can only agree with him.

Yes that's the impression I get Ana, and when an attack does happen, as it surely will, I don't suppose there will be too much indignation, as long as protocol has been observed angry Still able to pontificate from their armchairs, safe in the knowledge that their local church hall/community centre is unlikely to be a target for ISIS!

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:29:10

Exactly, Notso.

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:28:22

OMG Anniebach, if Martians landed and started a killing spree you would be posting that DC had arranged it all.

Notso Mon 07-Sept-15 22:27:36

Are there any TRULY democratic governments? I doubt it. When it comes to the protection of it's citizens, no government can afford the luxury of having all of the issues out in the open and subject to dissent. Sometimes, they just need to go ahead and get things sorted.

I applaud any PM of which ever political persuasion who has the balls to make tough and potentially unpopular decisions that may help to keep me and my family safe.

Anniebach Mon 07-Sept-15 22:25:55

Alleged attacks, we have one mans word they were to take place , the same man who failed the first time he tried to get the backing of parliament, now he the public supporting him - no proof as yet a good move to win the vote next time

merlotgran Mon 07-Sept-15 22:25:54

How would you suggest he take them prisoner, durhamjen? hmm

If it were that easy we could round up a whole bunch of the blighters and bring them to justice.

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:24:40

Your last post Djen ' why can't he take them prisoner'...... Hmmmn, I wonder why not?Think about it!

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:24:07

Can we have some details on these planned IS attacks?
No, obviously not.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 22:22:47

'Taken them prisoner'? Are you serious? grin

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:22:38

There will be people 'in the field' ( in Syria) gathering intelligence on IS, especially about the British jihadis. not all facts can be out in the open.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:22:37

It's naive to want to live in a civilised democracy, is it?
I'll carry on being naive, then.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 22:21:51

You'd apparently have been quite happy if the planned IS attacks had gone ahead, then dj?

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:21:11

If he knew what was going to happen, why did he need to kill them? Why couldn't he have taken them prisoner and brought them to British justice instead of behaving like IS?

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:19:46

Djen, I can't believe how naive your posts often are.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:18:55

Just like Blair said he knew there were weapons of mass destruction.
Cameron is not going to tell us the truth, is he? He has said he will not tell us everything. Why not if the threat has been averted?

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:16:22

So we are not a democracy, then, roses. Only every five years when they want our votes and the rest of the time they can lie through their teeth.
Oh, hang on, they did that when they wanted our votes as well, didn't they?

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 22:15:45

He averted a known terrorist planned attack. Would you be so complacent in your condemnation if he'd said - 'no, hang on I'll just dither a bit and waffle about 'peace talks' and the attack had been successfully carried out?

Anniebach Mon 07-Sept-15 22:12:58

So Blair and Bush were wrong but Cameron is right

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:11:01

" Kat Craig, legal director of Reprieve’s abuses in counter-terrorism team, said: “What we are seeing is the failed US model of secret strikes being copied wholesale by the British government. Ministers repeatedly promised parliament and the public that there would be no military operations in Syria without parliamentary approval. The fact that David Cameron has bypassed parliament to commit these covert strikes is deeply worrying – as is his refusal to share what legal advice he was given.”"

They lied. Just like Blair did over WMD.

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:06:03

Actually it was two British jihadis that were killed by the drone, you can see them right now on the news, posturing for the camers.

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 22:04:00

The population has been told what it needed to know for years and years, honesty isn't always the best policy when running a country, unless you want mass panic and hysteria.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 22:01:27

So when do you think Cameron should ask for Parliament's agreement?
As I've said before, we live in a democracy, supposedly.
Where are your lines drawn, niggly, and why should Cameron be allowed to draw his own lines?
It makes me think of Orwell's 1984, where the wars took place overseas, and the population was told when something they needed to know had happened, by Big Brother.

Anniebach Mon 07-Sept-15 21:57:27

I am not hot and bothered by the death of this person though I am sorry a young man has died. I am questioning the timing and what Cameron is planning , and not because he is a Tory, because he is PM

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 21:57:11

Why should Ana, or you AB or anyone on this forum have the answer?
I think most governments know in their hearts that IS will have to be wiped out sooner or later, but have been hoping it would fizzle out naturally.

rosesarered Mon 07-Sept-15 21:54:12

Good post nigglynellie. Hard to understand why anyone is getting hot and bothered by the death of this awful person.IS or whatever they are calling themselves this week are scum, and worse are the British scum who have joined them.
