This is Alex Salmond's comment on how Cameron is dealing with the migrant crisis.

www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/13642051.Alex_Salmond_says_David_Cameron_is__shaming_humanity__over_migration_crisis/

As shame in my countries response was what I have been feeling, I can only agree with him.

I am not included in "all of us" niggly.
Not in my name.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 18:22:10

Just humanitarian will do. No need to say self-proclaimed; of course I say it myself.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 18:21:50

Okay, so you'd rather the UK was wiped out by IS terrorists than admit that Cameron has a perfect right to defend his and our country.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 18:20:38

Proper groups, Plaid Cymru, Stop the War Coalition, CND, Reprieve.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 18:17:31

Okay, so you want to live in a dictatorship.

nigglynellie Mon 07-Sept-15 18:13:38

So say all of us I would have thought!

rosequartz Mon 07-Sept-15 18:04:31

Ceesnan hear hear

Ceesnan Mon 07-Sept-15 18:03:55

durhamjen As a self proclaimed humanitarian you are no doubt shocked to the core at the killing of a Jihadi terrorist. I, on the other hand, am thrilled to bits that this scum has been taken out.

rosequartz Mon 07-Sept-15 18:03:37

What are 'Proper Groups'?

As opposed to 'Improper Groups' one presumes, ie conservatives confused

rosequartz Mon 07-Sept-15 18:02:19

You mean traitors, Ana for want of a better word.

Let's face it, Cameron can do no right according to some people; he can only do his best which is fine by other people.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 17:55:11

The 'British people' you're presumably referring to were IS fighters planning attacks on the UK. What difference does their nationality make?

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 17:51:46

Proper groups are condemning him for it, not just me.
It's wrong. He said he would not do it without parliament's backing. It is illegal, whatever he says. Blair took us into a war on the same premise.
Cameron does not want to join with Europe over refugees, but it's okay to kill British people with US backing.
Dictatorship, exactly what he is supposed to be fighting against.

nigglynellie Mon 07-Sept-15 17:45:35

Not sure that he's there anymore, I think he could be the bird that has flown!!!

Gracesgran Mon 07-Sept-15 17:27:05

Sorry I acquired a Scottish accent - no should be not blush

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 07-Sept-15 17:25:38

dj do you not realise that situations change as wars progress?

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 07-Sept-15 17:24:19

Please can they get Jihadi John next. Please!

nigglynellie Mon 07-Sept-15 17:16:40

Let's face it in some people's eyes whatever David Cameron were to do it would be wrong. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, so there is not a lot of point discussing it. if he foils a terrorist plot, by means of a drone he's done it without consulting parliament first. If he'd consulted parliament and its discussed and voted upon it could well be too late, no doubt the bird would have flown. Would be terrorists must just laugh their heads off at us, it's almost shaming!. I personally think he's doing exactly the right thing with regard to the number of refugees this country can take over a given period. Jumping the housing queue, could cause resentment from those who have to wait wearily month in month out, but we shall see.

Gracesgran Mon 07-Sept-15 16:58:18

The refugees that will be coming into the country will no be given refugee status so will have no right to residence.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 16:29:11

There are 217,000 Syrians in refugee camps on the borders of Syria at the moment. Cameron is prepared to take 20,000 over the next five years.

Are Syrians likely to say they will go to those camps to get to the UK? Unlikely, I would think.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 16:27:37

Mr Cameron said the operation was legal under international law: "We were exercising the UK's inherent right to self-defence.

"The air strike was the only feasible means of effectively disrupting the attacks planned."

Perhaps they'll let him off in the circumstances, although I expect you'd rather they didn't, dj...

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 16:23:07

Because he asked for permission in 2013 and parliament voted against it.
I thought we were still a democracy, but obviously not.

Ana Mon 07-Sept-15 16:19:52

An Islamic State fighter from Cardiff was killed by an RAF drone strike in "an act of self-defence", David Cameron has confirmed.

He told the Commons that police and security services have stopped at least six terrorist attacks against Britain in the last 12 months.

He added that the risk to Britain from Islamist extremist violence is "more acute today than ever before".

Why is Cameron 'going to be in trouble' for that?

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 16:12:23

Just listened to Gerald Kaufman talking about the kindertransport.
I think they wanted to clap him, but couldn't because of protocol.

Cameron has admitted to killing a British subject in Syria by drone. He's going to be in trouble for that.

durhamjen Mon 07-Sept-15 15:53:19

In the lifetime of this parliament, not now. Is that acceptable, POGS? It could be none this year.

POGS Mon 07-Sept-15 15:48:10

Well apparently the UK will be taking a further 20.000 refugees.

I thought Cameron made a perfectly speech.
