This is Alex Salmond's comment on how Cameron is dealing with the migrant crisis.

www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/13642051.Alex_Salmond_says_David_Cameron_is__shaming_humanity__over_migration_crisis/

As shame in my countries response was what I have been feeling, I can only agree with him.

If that is the end of the nonsense that winds through this thread - good.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 18:46:39

I give up!!!

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 18:28:52

What was? Now I'm lost again in the foggy vale of oblique references which we're supposed to understand, presumably...

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 18:27:37

Well now we are back in the realms of sensible rational conversation I thought I'd give it another go!

Another go at people telling people when they may or may not post and what they my post about and, indeed, the words they may use ... or posting about the topic nigglynellie. I do hope it's the latter. smile

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 18:23:58

Probably not obvious Ceesnan but that was a reference to people complaining about Jeremy Corbyn talking to people seen as bad people.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 18:17:52

Ceesnan Fri 11-Sept-15 17:57:59

Who would you suggest? Bob Geldof? Richard Branson?

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 17:14:32

I definitely think I would rather be talking to such people than selling them arms Jen

As well as the holding zones being problem Ana someone was saying today that one of the reasons for people not going to the refugee camps nearer to home is that the are full to overflowing, rations have been cut and schooling is basically none existent.

It does make you think that politicians have be fiddling while Rome burned as it must have been obvious the there were going to be problems. Perhaps they never thought they would be as bad as this but they still seem very disorganised.

I wonder if we need a none politician to take up the baton.

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 16:53:58

... so if you are asking me if I want to continue with it the answer is an emphatic 'no'!

Then stop. It's really very easy. smile

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 16:18:26

I read that too Petra. I really don't know what to think about it. I don't think anyone will.ever be able to say one way or the other, I'd like to think that this is very far from the truth, but I've simply no idea.

A migrant on the boat where the children drowned has accused the father (of the children) of being a people trafficker. She said he was in charge of the boat.

Oh dear OH dear! this is truly terrible, and another looming problem for these poor people is the approach of winter. The weather now is very wet which is making it completely awful. I have no idea what the answers are, it will take a wiser head than mine to even begin to get some sort of order into this most desperate of situations. I saw the report coming out of Yemen on BBC2 last night, and again it's completely shocking. I can't begin to understand how these barbarians minds work on all sides, it's just beyond me. As a side line NI is kicking off! I despair!!!

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 13:58:14

At the scene: Anna Holligan, BBC News, Roszke

'The Hungarian refugee camps have become humiliating holding zones for the thousands trying to cross the country's borders. Journalists are banned from entering, but images shared by human rights groups and refugees are disturbing.

The Hungarian government has not yet commented, but the images will fuel the allegations that Hungary is failing to meet the minimum standards for the treatment of migrants, as laid out in the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Council of Europe has reminded member states that people should not be treated like prisoners.

Many of the people I've spoken to, from Raqqa, Idlib and Homs have become numb to violence in Syria, but their treatment in what is supposed to be a place of refuge is hard to bear.'

The link rosequartz gave in her post of 9.53 is very interesting, too.

rosesarered Fri 11-Sept-15 13:45:29

Just saw the awful conditions the refugees/ migrants are being kept in, in Hungary, hardly any warm blankets, herded into what look like cattle pens, and having wrapped sandwiches thrown at them to catch.Thrown!the people doing the sandwich throwing wearing face masks as well.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 13:29:13

Ouch!!! I only asked!!!! One question though, why on earth would I want this thread to continue as I've only posted about twice, and then it was to express frustration at it having become so petty and bad thing tempered, so if you are asking me if I want to continue with it the answer is an emphatic 'no'!

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 12:50:29

The end of the discussion on ending telling people when to end discussions will stop when people want it to nigglynellie. You appear to want to continue.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 12:44:55

ask!

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 12:44:33

Just thought I'd as!!!!!

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 12:43:55

Is this the end of this 'discussion'?!

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 12:21:12

Your last post is the prerogative of ALL posters though AB and they should make their own decision as to how, when and where they wish to post. I don't think anybody has argued that point.

Everone can indeed make whatever posts they want to POGS. However they cannot expect other people to post or not post according to their instruction. When that becomes a group trying to do this I do see this as bullying and, as we know, the only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them. I am happy to continue this silly little part of the thread for as long as anyone else wants to. I may have breaks while real life interrupts but I will not be told what and when I may post. That is my only contention in this weird little discussion.

Anniebach Fri 11-Sept-15 12:04:12

Yes a right to say I do not wish to continue with this but why not politely ? Some here are very bossy

POGS Fri 11-Sept-15 11:41:06

Your last post is the prerogative of ALL posters though AB and they should make their own decision as to how, when and where they wish to post. I don't think anybody has argued that point.

If you say something you have to accept that you will be challenged , 'own your own words', it does however sometimes come to a point when all points have been made, debated, questioned and answered and there is nothing more to offer on a personal basis other than going over old ground.

However others will interject because of the point you raised and it is their right to do as they deem fit in their response.

Anniebach Fri 11-Sept-15 11:20:10

Thank you POGS, all posters should be free to post - within rules - what and when they wish

POGS Fri 11-Sept-15 11:16:50

Correct.
