Not banter but you are, in my opinion, focusing on trivia.

People are now going to say words such as banter, joke, irony, etc. But things shouldnt effectively lose truth.

I dont like things being trivialised to such an extent that is makes untruths. Or distortions to such an extent that impressions of untruths are made.

I too am not much interested, but now I am going to have to read the other thread properly.

Interestingly I see we start the week with the Tories press releases about their target - no money to back it up as far as I can see - for house building. My target is that everyone who needs one should have a home but that "target" is highly unlikely to get them built.

JCs first question was about housing in PMQs so speaking "softly" seems to have had some affect on the government, if only to attempt to get themselves on the front pages of the newspapers. Actually doing something to solve the problems may come later - or not ...

I wonder if this will add to the death of newspapers, or at least the diminishing of their importance in people's lives and their influence over televised news. I do hope so.

I agree that the website is very right-wing Jen; that's why I thought it was an interesting article as it was on a site our right-wingers might enjoy. Even if, as Jbf says he is "a journalist, nothing more" this is where he chooses to publish.

As far as I know there is not rule that says you must post on any particular thread so, for those who are "Corbyned out", we will no doubt see you when you are feeling better.

Of course the chat on here has followed the unprecedented, so called, news coverage which has been, in the main, an attack on him from dawn to dusk and, of course, some on here have enjoyed this. It will be nice to see if there is some less hysterical coverage over the next week. Perhaps, if we are not talking about silly things like his top button or who he slept with when he was single years ago it will be of less interest to some but I think others are truly interested in what has been a big upheaval in politics that may affect all the parties.

The conference is in Brighton this year and starts on the morning of Sunday 27 September running to Wednesday 30 September. There will be a National Women's Conference taking place on Saturday 26 September (my birthday ) which may receive a little coverage as well so those who think the most important thing at the moment is whether Labour are in power or not and whether Corbyn is PM may want to have a few days news free.
