As jinglbellsfrocks had the last word in the last thread about Jermy Corbyn, I am starting a new one.

Do you think that the election of Jeremy Corbyn has scuppered Labour's chances of winning the next election or has it revitalised the party?

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 22:43:38

Ah, but he hasn't changed his views, he's just been made to realise that the rest of the party won't go along with that particular one - and there will be others no doubt.

Will there be any of his proposed policies that survive until the next election, I wonder

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 22:43:29

What about Trident, Anya?

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:42:26

Was I watching the news from planet Zog perhaps? There are two very opposing views on Trident.

I actually feel sorry for JC as he's 'dammed if be does and dammed if he doesn't'.

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 22:40:55

Absolutely brilliant headline in the Telegraph tomorrow, about Corbyn and Comrades. Every time a newspaper does that, he gets more support.

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:38:59

I don't understand why people are missing what is so blindingly obvious.

Trident!

Eloethan Sun 27-Sept-15 22:29:07

Why has McCluskey got Jeremy Corbyn by the short and curlies?

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 22:26:07

Rosesarered, why will Corbyn have to change his views and on what will he have to change his views?

Gracesgran Sun 27-Sept-15 22:23:08

Jen The press (and some members of GN smile ) just don't get democracy do they. I think the press will just find more and more are going to online sources for their information - well those that care about it being a little closer to a balance opinion.

One thing they, and others, seem to have problems with is bottom up democracy instead of top down dictatorship. All this talk about splits etc., when people do not need to be beaten into changing their views they just need to understand the meaning of democracy - difficult for those of the far right of course.

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 22:20:11

(although nice touch of humour in your last post, Anniebach grin)

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 22:18:36

Blimey, rosequartz, you were right about people not getting irony! hmm

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 22:16:15

I would say Rcayse was Welsh for because but that would be a lie

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 22:14:16

I think. Rcayse you want to believe it Anya, s few posts earlier you asked a rather silly question about who was leader , your still at, perhaps you would care to share your reason for your belief ?

rosesarered Sun 27-Sept-15 22:13:42

Anya! grin what a truly terrible image!

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:13:26

McCluskey - just spotted the correct spelling on the news (more like McScruffy)

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:10:51

Why do I sense that McClusky has Corbyn by the short and curlies over a barrel.

rosesarered Sun 27-Sept-15 21:50:59

Either 'Corby' will have to change his views ( will he?) or the majority of Labour MP's will, which is the more likely?!

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 20:54:01

Rosequartz, it isn't a law , no more than the wearing of top hats were always worn in the house untill Keir Hardie turned up in a cloth cap, I am not a person who thinks parliment should be the same now as in the 19th century , you do,

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 20:42:20

Oh I see, misread that - you are speaking for good working class people...just not good working people. confused

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 20:33:57

Oh, not working class now, dj? Which you were this afternoon...

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 20:22:57

Here's something else that looks good, Gracesgran.

revolutionarysocialismuk.wordpress.com/2015/09/27/labour-streets-ahead-tories-battered-after-just-2-weeks-in-latest-ipsos-mori-poll/

It all depends on who is interpreting that Ipsos Mori poll.

Whose status quo, roseq? When you consider all the important topics in the news, you will find that the shadow cabinet has women as spokespersons in education, health, business, defence, environment, energy, international development, law, transport, Wales, women and equalities, and the chief whip.

They are all important to me and many other people in the country. Note I am not speaking for good working people.

Gracesgran Sun 27-Sept-15 19:44:23

16:05:58 Jen that is looking good.

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:35:43

Defind in the 19th century (but not by me!)
Well, yes, worth a rethink
And I don't think the Leader of the Opposition can change it all by himself, so perhaps he can suggest it to the rest of Parliament if he thinks it needs updating.
But, as I said, it is the status quo

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 19:32:36

Defind in the 19th century ? We had the death penalty, women couldn't vote, children worked in coal mines in the 19th century, we didn't have the NHS in the 19th century and education was not available to all in the 19th century

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:26:22

Me? I am not the political animal on here grin

Who am I to say which job is 'more top' than another? It is what it is as they say, I can't change it

In the interests of fairness here is a link from the Independent:
Note - not the Guardian or the Mail shock

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 19:18:46

Rosequartz, you seem very concerned with how things are viewed in political circles ,
