Oh smacked wrist for me dj! It was only this childish comment about his name that prompted me to post . I wasn't aware that this wasn't allowed, apologies all round!! The name of George was chosen after his grandfather, not at random! Just thought you'd like to k n ow!

durhamjen Wed 21-Oct-15 18:58:06

She's probably hoping that Osborne does not become leader, though, Anniebach.

durhamjen Wed 21-Oct-15 18:32:53

Perhaps Gideon should have chosen a better name for himself.
You do realise, niggly that you have written two quite long posts, neither of which has addressed the topic. I wonder why that is.

A shame Heidi Allen voted with the government yesterday after that speech.

nigglynellie Wed 21-Oct-15 18:13:09

I can assure you that she is!! Only British politicians allowed!

durhamjen Wed 21-Oct-15 18:08:40

Having watched her speech, I was wondering why she was a Tory in the first place.

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 18:01:14

I do admire the young female Tory MP who spoke out yesterday , new to the house and her maiden speech wasn't a - I need to do a bit of crawling if I want promotion

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 17:58:59

And George Washington - he who never told a porkie !

Luckygirl Wed 21-Oct-15 17:58:22

Good for them - let us hope that they can stall these measures. Another back-of-the-envelope job. DC is trying to defend the indefensible.

Ana Wed 21-Oct-15 17:48:51

George Bush, anyone? grin

nigglynellie Wed 21-Oct-15 17:47:23

I can't say I do, as people's names are not something that I judge them by, and I'm not sure that George sounds better politically or would give anyone gravitas when thinking of George Brown, George Wigg, George Galloway, George Grant, need I go on?!! Each to his own I guess, but honestly, a tad childish surely,!

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 17:03:04

niggly Yes I love being pathetic. Besides Gideon suits him so much more don't you agree? George of course sounds better politically ,- more gravitas ( he wishes)

nigglynellie Wed 21-Oct-15 16:53:01

Why do you call him Gideon when he's known as George? Is it a dig of some sort? If so it's pretty pathetic, particularly as parents name children not the child themselves, so it's hardly his fault having a name that he clearly dislikes and has dropped for that reason, which is hardly a reason for others to mock and make fun of!

rosesarered Wed 21-Oct-15 13:33:51

I agree Jingl, it needs phasing in properly. I think now that the government will do something, maybe not a u turn, but something to present a better package all round.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Oct-15 12:44:01

I hope the Lords stop this tax credits thing going through. It is wrong.

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:36:17

Cameron just said "we don't want to make promises we can't keep" gringringrin

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:34:01

Latest mantra "we will do everything we can to help"

That should really read "we will cut everything we think we can get away with"

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:31:59

Real world works!!!!

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:13:46

Cameron's lie is staring at him straight in the face.

Let's hope the assurances he is giving over the steel problems arn't also a lie.
The Tories have no industrial strategy, they are old fashioned laissez faire supporters. Someone needs to advise them of how the real works now.

Now we are being investigated by the UN because of the violations against disabled people - wonderful!

Anniebach Wed 21-Oct-15 12:06:33

I qoute - The Lords have been threatened by Downing Street - BBC News this morning

whitewave Wed 21-Oct-15 12:03:35

The Lords have put down 2 motions which will be fatal to Gideon's Tax credit cuts! Being somewhat cynical, it let's the Tories off the hook without seeming to have caved in. Still it doesn't matter, Families can hopefully breath for a while.
