Watching the news and there have been 2 separate incidents in Paris (one explosion near a football ground and one shoot out at a restaurant.). 4 dead so far. So awful. What is happening?

Ana Mon 16-Nov-15 17:18:20

No I am not saying that, Anniebach, and how you have managed to interpret my post as meaning that I have no idea...hmm

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 17:17:28

.rosesarered, if you hadn't picked on soons post there would be no fussing, you were wrong to dictate to her and have her move her views to another thread, I hsve no wish to keep this going but it is a matter of principle, you were wrong to dictate what should or should not be posted

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 17:16:23

That's very true absent there are a bewildering array of Muslim lines of faith, which us why so many of them are being killed by ISIS.

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 17:14:03

Ana, are you saying soon should not be given a reply because you disapprove of her post and any reply to her ?

absent Mon 16-Nov-15 17:11:40

I think we (and the media) should beware of talking about "Muslims" as if we are describing a homogenous group. Saudis have as little in common with Algerians as Brits have with Romanians, for example.

Ana Mon 16-Nov-15 17:10:00

It's not the bible quotes as such. It's the back and forth arguing about whether soon's interpretation of them is correct or not.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 17:02:03

Well, if you want to bore everyone rigid.......

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 16-Nov-15 17:00:06

At the beginning the thread was about to X pressing shock, horror and grief. Now it has turned to, what we think should be done about IS. What can be wrong with that?

And why not allow bible quotes? Freedom of speech and all that.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:51:19

anniebach do stop fussing and fighting, and allow this thread to get back on track.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:47:27

RoseQuartz we both seem to be back .grin

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:46:29

So that's alright then! grin

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:41:13

Oh!

Anyway, for all our fervent prayers .....

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:34:24

No rosequartz , I was referring to rosesarereds posts on soons posts

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:32:27

^ but I think it unfair in a supposed Christian country a Christian is asked not to post her Christian views on war . Dear God it's no different to extremists silencing Christians even if a gun isn't being used, a sharp tongue is^

Are you addressing me? A sharp tongue?
confused

I was agreeing with soontobe in the one and only post I put on this thread until the last two!

Totally confused now

(especially as I spent a lot of last week in church ..... praying for peace, as were so many people - so where was God on Friday?)

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:29:22

No it is not much better, she has been stopped from posting her views on this thread, better for you rosesarered because you have had things your way but unfair on soon who has felt she had to move to another thread

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:28:36

I am out of here too RoseQuartz

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:23:29

soontob is talking about it just now on a religious thread, which is much better.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:20:38

Me too, it has got bogged down in religion, when it was meant to be an expression of shock and sorrow for the people in Paris who were killed and injured.sad

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:19:10

I am sorry rosequartz, but I think it unfair in a supposed Christian country a Christian is asked not to post her Christian views on war . Dear God it's no different to extremists silencing Christians even if a gun isn't being used, a sharp tongue is

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:14:30

I'm not being unfair, just bewildered.
That's why I stopped contributing to the thread until now.

And will retreat again smile

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:13:49

Ana, if parts of the bible are important to soons view on wars is she free to say this ? I don't agree with her views but it is her right to express them

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:10:20

What about freedom of speech so many claim to be so important ? You are being unfair ,neither everyone is free to post their views and opinions or they are not, which is it?

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 16-Nov-15 16:07:39

I am going to take a step back from this thread for a while. smile

Eloethan Mon 16-Nov-15 16:05:02

To say that this country will be a Muslim one within the next generation or two seems pretty alarmist to me. Muslims constitute 5% of the British population.

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:04:35

I have no desire to control threads,

Well, I mentioned in a post that I didn't think this was the time or the place and perhaps starting another thread might be a good idea, but I wasn't trying to control the thread, just express an opinion about how I felt
It felt a bit like going to a funeral and starting to talk about the wrongs that the deceased may have done in their life (as no-one is perfect).
A time and a place - but that is only my opinion.
