I think we would need to know roughly what age of men you would like to meet?

Are you talking about those in their 40s or those in their 70s?

Enroll in a home or car maintenance course? - with the intention of doing your own repairs, of course . Start up a course yourself on "Cooking for men left on their own"?

There is a saying for young men who want to get rich that goes "Doant thee marry for money, but go where money is" I'd say don't go deliberately looking for suitable men (off-putting for men who don't want to get caught), but definitely go where men go and be seen as a nice unattached woman. Then survey what is available and take your pick.

soontobe - I can't say I'm too fussy about age. Fitness is important to me though. I suppose roughly around my own age - 62.

Fitness as in physical fitness or as in 'cor, he's fit?' Both probably!

My sister has been playing the dating game for so long she was virtually at the point of giving up (she has just recently met someone but the jury is still out) however there is one thing that is apparent these days and that is that men in general don't seem to want women of the same (or even similar) age. It would appear that the average 50 year old single male is looking for a 30 year old woman !

I'm unexpectedly "free" too OP and I'm dreading getting back on that horse! I've heard of some people who've found partners whilst online dating but I think the successes are few and far between.

Have you been reading the "Stella Grey" column in the Saturday Guardian? I spent last weekend going through the back catalogue of entries and it's seriously depressing stuff...

I always suggest working in a garage! Men of all ages have to get petrol!

Plus I have noticed that industrial estates up and down the country have a lot of men, plus some women, working in them.
Though how that is going to help you, I am not sure!

You will always find groups of men of mixed ages at quiz nights. What is the music scene where you live? Do you have many pubs that do open mic nights? they attract a very mixed age group. This is assuming you drink.
Any small clubs that feature local bands, they have a following of older men.
I can only give you ideas from where I live, in Southend.
Aim a bit higher than working in a garage, or anything to do with industrial areas. Lol.

You don't have to drink alcohol to go to pubs, BTW!

Get up an all-female pub quiz team and take on the blokes? And beat 'em!
