Lovely story, good to be reminded that not everyone just turns away and ignores such bad behaviour.

How can we claim to be a fair and just country when there is so much h bigotry? Make me mad.

I was once in a difficult situation on a train and the person who stood up for me and sorted it out was a large, bull-necked, mega-tattooed, head-shaven young man who was having none of it. You would have felt a bit nervous walking by him alone on a dark night, but he was a real gent.
