Dessimation of the NHS

Our town has just been informed that the powers that be intent to close our local A and E and ultimately our hospital. I live in a large town with a large university and this is unthinkable. The reason apparently is because of the debt accruing on a Privately funded hospital in the next town. I am shocked to find that this is occurring throughout the country mainly for the same reason I.e. Debts to private companies. I did not realise that the NHS is being privatised by stealth. Surely this is wrong.

The NHS is the best ever Health system in the whole wide world- which is why abuses of the system should be firmly tackled - would anyone disagree and this is anti-British?

This is one reason why NHS patients have problems getting to see a doctor in hospital.

Did anyone else notice this last week?
There was a report about Boots and unsafe practices, how pharmacies were cheating the NHS.
Lots of pharmacists wrote to the Guardian to corroborate the report.

Why has it taken this for the regulator to lok into it?
Was the regulator not doing the job properly?

I agree with this. It seems to be forgotten about in all the furore over tax, the EU, etc.
Perhaps that's the point, to divert our attention while dismantling it.

Why is Hunt not in the running for taking over from Cameron. After all, he's shown just how tough he can be.

This is what happens with privatisation.

Don't move until this is sorted out. Whatever you do, do not ask for a prescription.

Same company, Capita.

We have 4 more years of this. Ye gods! There is always the thought that it to get worse, as if the vote is out , look at what we could get as leader.

"George Osborne is determined to apply market economics to the NHS, no matter how damaging the consequences. The NHS is collapsing from the year on year de-funding it has sustained since 2010. I am in no doubt that this looks like success to this government as their health policies create greater market expansion opportunities for the insurance based private health sector. But in defence of my patients and all patients I am calling for this decision to be reversed. There is no acceptable reason to apply £60 million market rental to GPs and community hospitals, it will plunge them into ever greater financial difficulties.

The government's rationale is to put the PropCo in profit by taking rent from the funding it gives to the NHS to provide frontline services. We owned these properties, they were part of the NHS. There is no value, from a public service perspective, to put public property into a private company then charge the public for what it used to own itself. But there is great profit to be made from a future sale. Not for us, the public, we know that from experience, but for whichever company buys at the bargain basement price tag that Osborne sells for."

This is clever of Osborne. An even quicker way to bankrupt the NHS.

Who voted for this?

An interesting analogy by a doctor who has seen a lot of people die.

Lack of cash mentioned here, too, whitewave.

As opposed to a caesarean .

A coroner reports that a baby's death soon after birth suggests that lack of cash meant that the mother was forced to have a vaginal birth as a caesarean.

The march on Saturday is going to be enormous. For jobs, for the NHS, for homes, for education.

Kings Fund says that the government is underfunding the NHS well who would guess.

I can't say what I think as I would be zapped, as being too rude.

durhamjen Thu 14-Apr-16 22:12:43

Very depressing, granjura.
Unfortunately, it's true, and there does not seem to be anything we can do about it.

The Unicef report today about socio-economic status and health, welfare and education shows that the government is doing what they want to do to those in poverty.
They suggest placing equity at the heart of child well-being agendas.
Like this government is going to do that!

granjura Thu 14-Apr-16 21:53:14

All you need to do is to undermine and slowly destroy- and create dissatisfaction- take a loss for a short while, then pick up the (very lucrative pieces) and job done.
Simple. You can do the same with education, old peoples homes, whatever- same methods- it works.

granjura Thu 14-Apr-16 21:47:16

It is a very calculated and planned effort to destroy the NHS- as they know that privatising it would be so un-popular. To privatise it, they have to destroy it first- it is a very well-known tactic- described by Chomsky half a Century ago. Doing NHS operations in private hospitals is a bit like loss savers in supermarkets- very calculated too.

durhamjen Thu 14-Apr-16 20:41:51

Not for the Tories. Just what they were aiming for.
We'll end up having to go to tax havens to be treated soon.

whitewave Thu 14-Apr-16 18:18:03

Just watching the news - the NHS seems to be falling apart. What a bloody disaster.

It's not under threat at the moment from this government, then.
I wondered where he had been hiding.

As it will be about the time of the 48 hour strike, their minds should be concentrated on it.
