What an excellent, though chilling video. This makes me terrified for my grandchildren. How realistic do you think this is?

Apparently by something like 2030 computers and robots will be more intelligent than humans.

Whilst I'm all for earlier retirement its chilling to think that humans will lose purpose.

The future looks bleak enough for my grandchildren but this makes me so sad.

I love technology but as an aid to humanity not its successor.

We will probably laugh at this in years to come. Just think how the world has changed in our own lifetimes and not in line with predictions either. I doubt very much that all jobs can be done by robots or indeed that we humans would necessarily accept a robot doing certain things. We may need to insist on our choice which, and I hate to jump on this particular bandwagon, is our 'human right'! grin

I'd like to see Tomorrows World again and see what did/didn't come to be.

Hasn't Stephen Dawking said 'Artificial Intelligence' could mean the end of humanity as we know it in the future.

Have you ever watched the lovely children's movie ' Wall E ', it's quite thought provoking in a sweet way but it is all about human beings relying on technology and how they resemble Weebles because they don't walk anywhere , rely on artificial light etc.

Could well happen but I don't think we need to worry , just yet!

I can't even work out my DVD player confused

Will computers / machinery make all this technology to replicate and/or improve themselves?

I seem to remember that the same sort of doom mongering went on in the 1960s, 70s, 80s............. There is nothing most people enjoy more than the threat of a dystopian future.

It is a bit like all those religious cults that threaten Armegeddon and the world ending this week, next week, sometime, never.

There is, always has been and always will be a great deal of rubbish spouted by people who think they know it all and given enough time it will be proved to be absolute rubbish too! grin
