How will you vote in the EU referendum? (Thread 2)

I just hate it when discussions about stay or leave descend into party politics rants. So Corbyn or McDonnell make a headline that Javid should resign...what good will that do? Catch a few headlines and fade away.

People should be making an informed decision on whether to stay or leave based on their own gut instincts plus reasons why it would be best to stay or go.

Firstly, I thought I should vote to stay because I have grandchildren who will need to remain in work for years yet, but when I spoke to the elder grandson he told me he is going to vote out...so apart from his decision, my main concern is the loss of sovereignty and the power the ECJ has to make legal decisions binding all member states. I am all in favour of a common market in Europe, but the EU has become too large and unwieldy and countries have different cultures and legal systems and additionally some of them are much more undeveloped than the UK. I cannot see that a united states of Europe would work.

I will vote to leave and no scare stories from politicians will change my mind.

I did say that from the start but we were told we shouldn't go on gut instinct by some.
Such a problem, with just an in/out decision.

I notice that Airbus has sent letters to all its workers giving business reasons for staying in. Good for them. However, there will still be many employees saying that they are not going to be told what to do by the boss, and will therefore vote out.

This is an unwinnable discussion.

I can't be the only one who feels this thread is more like a party political broadcast for Corbynites/proEurope.

There are certain contributors here who are most definitely socialist workers, if not readers of The Socialist Worker. The thread might be taken from SW columns, so that's why I've given up on this topic.. I'd buy the newspaper if I wanted to read it.

Also to learn facts from the horses mouth look at the ' many ' debates held in Parliament and a good one to start with is the Business Innovation Skills Committee taking evidence on 27th October 2015. 'TATA Steel Redundancies'.

Tata make very specialised steel at the Llanwern plants near Newport. Port Talbot have the big blast furnaces - not much of the specialised stuff is exported as it is mainly bought by Uk industries. Tata have said it is a very small amount which would be affected by the tariffs. What I cannot understand amongst all the jabbering going on is that soon Port Tabot will not have an energy bill to pay as they will be making their own - I realise there will be a cost to do this but it will be a reliable source of energy. The plant is near the completion stage. Surely it is not so secret that no one knows about it.
Nice to see that it is another Indian man/company interested in the plant rather than the Chinese. I cannot see why they WANT such a tie up with China - it is leaving Britain open to the vagaries of the Chinese in power at any time. I gather that no matter how much security there is while the building of the nuclear plants takes place it is still a relatively simple task to insert a tiny chip to lie dormant and then be 'fired' at a future date from afar and the generating plant becomes a nuclear bomb. It may seem an unlikely scenario but things do change over the years.
We need more sensible women in Govt who have been mothers and grandmothers and have them in positions of power and then we would not have these stupid problems.

I'm sure the Welsh Assemby is truly fascinating, but so is the Icelandic Alþingi at the moment.

As usual you choose to omit 'context' from other peoples posts. Your last post is somewhat narcissistic if you believe I was singling you out , my post was a general comment and I have no intention of getting into one of your infernal spats.

I did not say ' truly interested in politics' as you have charged me with saying. I said 'truly interested in hearing politics from the horses mouth not spin/bias'. In other words don't rely on everything for information from either a left wing / right wing prospective but listen/watch and think for yourself, some posters like doing that !

It is better to watch and hear from actual Parliamentary debates rather than read the Guardian or Daily Mail, indeed you very often refer to Parliament and even enlighten us with links to Hansard no less.

Part of it was. As always with long threads, there were a number of parallel topics being discussed.

So what was so wrong in mentioning the Welsh Assembley was LIVE on t.v discussing the TATA Steel Plant for anybody interested in listening to facts.
I think you are doing the usual following the poster not the post daphnedil.
