Surely the birth/marriage/death records in Welsh churches were a matter for the incumbent of the individual church to keep up to date and preserve? Nothing to do with any problems the English may have had with the patronymics? If a child William were born to David ap Rees, and baptised, then it would be entered in the register as such.

I'm sure there are many more male prostitutes than we might imagine. I suspect there are many gay men who would rather use a prostitute than admit they are gay.

I think this was posted by Pompa but it is not the case I'm afraid. A few years ago DH & I stayed in Amsterdam in a hotel a fair distance from the city centre. We walked back through residential streets and were surprised to come across several individual lighted windows where prostitutes were in residence. I wondered how they turned a coin as there didn't seem to be much in the way of passing trade.

They may approach prostitution from a different angle, but they are sensible (and sensitive) about it, and a view from the other side of the bed is a useful persepective.

And please Anniebach make up your mind whether you intend to engage in a bit of light banter about the sheep or to get the claws out about racial stereotypes and the subjugation of the Welsh - for crying out loud, exactly the same "stereotyping" takes place about sheep farmers in the Scottish uplands, Australia, and probably every other place where men in wellies look after woolly jumpers, not to mention stockmen dealing with other beasts.

As for believing that prostitution is exactly the same as being a footballer's wife - you must be pulling our legs. A prostitute sleeps with anyone and everyone who can afford it - come one, come all. A footballer's wife risks a black eye if she fancies another man and acts on her desire.

A wife who doesn't have a paid job, but instead looks after the children oif her marriage, her home, and her extended family, and works part-time or intermittently when opportunity arises, is NOT exchanging sex for money, she is contributing to what is essential at the time to the partnership she is in.

I know POGS, and having belonged to forums for quite a few years one gets fed up with constant jibes . I have no problem with light hearted banter .

There will always be outcry from some, as a Yorkshire man , with Welsh ancestry, living in Essex, I am the possible target of many jokes, and that's what they are, to be taken light heartedly, and I try to give as good as I get.

Good spirited banter seems to be the territory of men, women, generally don't get it or take it too seriously.

Prostition is unacceptable because a woman charges for sex , is there such a difference between women who marry for money or a title, a woman who sleeps with a footballer so she can be seen in the media

For goodness sake I may be wrong but what Grumppa and pompa have said is nothing more than has been posted on threads before. If I could be assed I would find one or two but that would only waste my time. I think there may have been banter between Anniebach and Grumppa before of a similar vein. It cannot help but be noted that you are focussing on the gender of the two posters you are taking exception to and I for one am a tad uneasy about it. I've noted this happen on GN before.
