Something positive about this government

I thought it might be a good exercise to list the successful and positive things this government has achieved, as I am struggling at the moment to feel anything but utterly gloomy.

I will get back with a contribution to the list once I can think of something.

Thirdly (and most importantly) we are not in the Eurozone, so are in control of our currency.

daphnedill Fri 18-Mar-16 13:19:17

Secondly, we do not have a culture of not paying tax - yet!

daphnedill Fri 18-Mar-16 13:18:37

Firstly, we are a much richer country.

daphnedill Fri 18-Mar-16 13:18:05

We were never going to end up like Greece.

daphnedill Fri 18-Mar-16 13:17:26

I am trying to post a reasoned reply, but keep being told my message is invalid. Any know why?

daphnedill Fri 18-Mar-16 13:16:14

Why is my message invalid?

When asked what good things this government has achieved, the only pro-government responses rely almost entirely on rubbishing the opposition. That is apart from the comment that at least we are not in the same situation as Greece - which I think is a meaningless comparison because Greece isn't the 6th richest country in the world and it has a completely different economy from our own.

They have in effect been in power since 2010, as the Lib Dems had little restraining effect on them. Six years of worry and misery for increasing numbers of people, and with hardly any of the promised targets met. And there is more to come. The "jam tomorrow" promises are wearing very thin.

obi sorry didn't see your post amongst all the others. Unemployment is now at 5% The lowest since the crash. However they still haven't got it as low as the period in which Labour held office, so I am not sure it can be classed as a resounding success, particularly as so many of the jobs are zero contract which has risen by 19% this year.

Mmmm, it's a tough one. I'm sure there's something - was it this government that finally got rid of that hate-monger with the hooks (name escapes me)?

Jane10 Fri 18-Mar-16 12:52:27

I'm with obieone- that we are not in Greece's financial mess and with Anniebach re staying in the EU. I reckon they have a sensible practical approach to the migrant crisis.
Also they have a better financial handle on things than our dratted Scottish Govt!

....I'm still thinking........

annodomini Fri 18-Mar-16 12:45:45

Don't hold your breath!

annsixty Fri 18-Mar-16 12:45:06

Don't worry. I am more often than not disregarded. I sometimes think my posts are invisible to everyone but me.?

obieone Fri 18-Mar-16 12:39:27

Why are you disregarding mine? hmmshock

whitewave Fri 18-Mar-16 12:28:59

kitty excellent! That's one person.

Luckygirl Fri 18-Mar-16 12:27:45

Nothing yet - I'll work on it, but don't hold your breath!

kittylester Fri 18-Mar-16 12:25:49

Yep, under the new pip assessment rules, my son is quite a bit better off.

whitewave Fri 18-Mar-16 12:08:37

Anybody got anything! Apart from negatives that is, like not a Labour Government?

tanith Fri 18-Mar-16 12:00:48

Can't think of one good thing.

Charleygirl Fri 18-Mar-16 11:57:41

Nothing springs to mind

Anya Fri 18-Mar-16 11:51:12

..has not been in power ....

Anya Fri 18-Mar-16 11:50:38

This government has it been in power even a year yet - remember the election in 2015? Ask me again in another 4 years.

A more reasonable question might be to ask what the previous coalition government did that was 'positive'.

nigglynellie Fri 18-Mar-16 11:05:20

That it's not a Corbyn government.

sunseeker Fri 18-Mar-16 10:32:28

That it is not a Labour government

Nonnie Fri 18-Mar-16 10:05:07

That unemployment has dropped to the lowest lever in decades and we have more people in work than ever before.
