We can't possibly let this slip by!

Tory on Radio 4 this morning arguing that we can't tackle the "treasure islands" that we have sovereignty over as it will lose people jobs!
I was astounded. So it is fine for the Steel workers to face penury but not those who help the wealthy to hide their money.

DC implicated - won't be long before GO is mentioned.

nigglynellie Mon 11-Apr-16 10:30:59

Not me ab, it's a known fact! dj clearly has them with regard to POGS, is she said too?!!

rosesarered Mon 11-Apr-16 10:29:40

My comments to djen were not the kind of 'knock knock' or 'I say I say I say'
Joke, is that the kind of humour only understood on here?Dear dear, it reinforces my thoughts on Socialists and their utter dreary humourless-ness.
No, I don't know any btw you are right about that.Just what I read on here by a small handful of people. A lot may live in Islington in million pound or more houses.Lighten up FGS.

whitewave Mon 11-Apr-16 10:20:00

It's OK on mine

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 10:14:13

Could someone else click on the ICIJ website and let me know if it's working okay on their computer, because it isn't on mine this morning. It was last night.

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 10:07:21

Sorry but POGS is being petty and small minded. She is going on about the UK journalists and has homed in on one.
There are 400 journalists involved in this.
It's a world-wide problem as you will see if you look at the actionaid website.

www.actionaid.org.uk/blog/campaigns/2016/04/04/panama-papers-and-the-broken-global-tax-system

www.theguardian.com/news/2016/apr/05/panama-papers-world-leaders-tycoons-secret-property-empires

This one shows how much the UK is involved, and POGS sees fit to argue about the British journalists involved.
Talk about being petty.
I do not see POGS as a socialist.

whitewave Mon 11-Apr-16 09:59:27

Oh I listened to Rees Mogg this morning grin

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 09:54:07

What unpleasant thoughts you hold niggly , so sad

nigglynellie Mon 11-Apr-16 09:41:05

Perhaps it's because socialists tend to be petty, spiteful and small minded! Just a thought!

Anniebach Mon 11-Apr-16 08:27:24

To be fair to Rosesarered, it seems for some strange reason she doesn't mix with socialists , probably thinks all socialists live in industrial parts if the country , wear cloth caps and clogs and are uneducated . Bet you get really excited when that Rees Mogg speaks Rosesarered. grin ,

Anya Mon 11-Apr-16 07:33:44

Well if you get your wish DJ and Cameron was forced to step down, then the 'leave the EU' campaign will undoubtedly be in the ascent.

Makes it almost certain this leak was strategically timed.

Eloethan Mon 11-Apr-16 00:31:13

"Of course, I had forgotten that it was considered a crime by Socialists to live anywhere leafy and nice like the Cotswolds and surrounding area".

rosesarered You say the above remark was a joke? I don't get it.

POGS Mon 11-Apr-16 00:06:10

You may have a point re not being interested in who/what organisation hacked/leaked the Panama Papers but I will be very interested to know if it does turn out to be American Intelligent Services.

POGS Mon 11-Apr-16 00:00:20

Ah , so one independent journalist who is a consortium member delivers training courses these days to other media companies.

We will have to agree to disagree DJ others will establish their own thoughts I'm sure, if it is of interest to them.

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 00:00:16

No, I'm not really interested in who leaked the information.
i hope whoever did it is proud of spotlighting the corruption involved in so many countries. I hope the PM of Iceland is only the first to step down.

Cameron said sunlight is the best disinfectant.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:51:17

Yes, you are missing something.

Paul Myers does this;

These days, his role sees him organise and deliver training courses related to internet investigation, digital security, social media research, data journalism, freedom of information and reporting statistics. He has trained personnel from the BBC, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, the Times, Channel 4, CNN and many non-media companies and international organizations.

I saw Yorkshire TV, Richard Bilton, Granada/ World in Action/ London City Unversity.
If you look at the nine names, two of whom work for the ST, two for the BBC and one for the Guardian, you will see it says more after each synopsis. Then you can see who else they work for.

Happy reading.

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:44:07

So is your reason for posting a dated link lies in the believe you are of the belief Cameron will have to step down. ?

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:40:39

Your point being?

All I see is Guardian, BBC and Sunday Times or are you thinking the one from Reuters and the other two who are independent journalists will prove a point.

Am I missing something beyond the latter?

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:35:28

It was written on the eighth, POGS.

The next paragraph was more important.

Over the next couple of weeks, the Panama Papers will offer us a survey of the healthiness of domestic institutions in countries where elites have been compromised. From authoritarian regimes where the news will hardly be debated to vibrant democracies in which heads of state will be held accountable and might eventually have to step down.

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:31:19

I have read your last link Durhamjen and I am a fan of Aljazeera in general.

I am confused however with this link, why, it states this :-

So far, David Cameron has declined to comment on the involvement of his father in these offshore schemes, but he will have to face heavy fire in Parliament and with media with a certain impact on the end of his time in office'

Anniebach Sun 10-Apr-16 23:26:47

So Jen, the guardian and private eye say yes.

So he was a partner in Simmons and Simmons who acted for Blairmore Holdings but didn't deal with them personally

Lot of flying pigs around

This is possibly worse than Cameron.
I'd like to know how much of this offshore stuff relates to arms trading.

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:10:45

How odd you find my post was a joke Durhamjen.

I was quoting your words after all. confused

Yes I have looked up ICIJ and all I can find is connections to The BBC, The Guardian and Sunday Times when it came to the UK members of the consortium.

Who do you think has leaked/hacked into the data held by Mossack Foseca or is it not of any interest to you.
