We can't possibly let this slip by!

Tory on Radio 4 this morning arguing that we can't tackle the "treasure islands" that we have sovereignty over as it will lose people jobs!
I was astounded. So it is fine for the Steel workers to face penury but not those who help the wealthy to hide their money.

DC implicated - won't be long before GO is mentioned.

Cameron says that he and his wife had £30,000 in Blairmore. The Blairmore papers say that the minimum is £70,000.
I am surprised that has not been picked up.

The Telegraph thought that Tony Benn's system was good, not illegal and sensible for all of us who own homes more than the IHT limit. That doesn't concern me.

Yep! Bound to happen and there will be a lot more. Doesn't change or detract from the argument though, that the rich play the system, we are not all in this together and there is nothing fair about this government

Finance industry trolls.
Are there any on here?

nigglynellie Fri 08-Apr-16 22:19:45

Well of course they do! what a ridiculous comment,, that's why they will be there! The cheat he is? Just like T Benn!! avoiding inheritance tax is cheating dj however much you try to justify it!

Ana Fri 08-Apr-16 22:10:07

Well, of course they would if they're all geared up for a protest! It's not 94% of the general population though...dream on.

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 22:06:33

www.facebook.com/events/1587310231586811/

There's a protest outside Downing Street tomorrow at 11.00 a.m.
94% of those asked think he should resign.

Anniebach Fri 08-Apr-16 21:55:38

How many shares did Tony Benn have in off shore accounts?

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 21:40:58

He lied here as well. As he said this week, put up or shut up.
On the other hand, the more he says, the worse he makes it for himself.

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 21:34:01

Been wishing for ages that Cameron would be found out for the cheat that he is, and look what's happened.

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 21:32:55

What's wrong with wishful thinking?

Jane10 Fri 08-Apr-16 21:11:04

Of course its wishful thinking.

Ana Fri 08-Apr-16 21:05:18

Someone said today that it would be better if Cameron and Osborne went before the referendum as the waters are going to be took muddied otherwise

Oh, how ridiculous - talk about a hysterical reaction! It's not going to happen, no matter how much some of you may want it to.

nigglynellie Fri 08-Apr-16 21:03:00

I could hardly avoid it!

whitewave Fri 08-Apr-16 21:00:42

Depressing article though

daphnedill Fri 08-Apr-16 20:56:09

I disagree with you, niggly. Not all politicians are slippery toads and if you voted for one, more fool you!

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 20:45:20

Marina Hyde has a good name for it - trickle-down tax-dodging.

nigglynellie Fri 08-Apr-16 20:42:29

No of course he wasn't, but I can't believe that he disapproved, they were a very close couple, with the same political beliefs, so it would be strange if they weren't in step over their personal arrangements. I haven't got a problem with it , to me it's a sensible, legal precaution to protect family assets from the state, but others could see it differently. All politicians are slippery toads, when push comes to personal shove! Bit like the education of their children. There's always a good reason for their choices, but it's rarely the local catchment area school whatever their beliefs - somehow these rules and for some even their disaproval of private schools doesn't apply to them but their reasons are perfectly excusable, whereas ours aren't!!!!!

whitewave Fri 08-Apr-16 20:39:48

Too!

whitewave Fri 08-Apr-16 20:37:33

Everything feels as if its unravelling.

Someone said today that it would be better if Cameron and Osborne went before the referendum as the waters are going to be took muddied otherwise

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 20:32:29

Just to add to his woes, UK productivity is the worst it has been since 2008.
They'd better hang onto the steel companies.

durhamjen Fri 08-Apr-16 20:29:58

Very enlightening reading through the Jimmy Carr thread from 2012.

Ladbrokes has 3 - 1 that Cameron will leave after the referendum.

Ana Fri 08-Apr-16 20:24:34

Strange that Labour didn't close all those loopholes when they were in power. Wonder why?

daphnedill Fri 08-Apr-16 20:21:08

dj, I've given Cameron the benefit of the doubt so far. It will be interesting to see what happens when his mother dies. The fact is that Cameron is a slippery toad.

There are so many tax loopholes which could be closed down if there were a will - but, of course, there isn't a will. In my opinion, it's not good enough to claim they're legal, when the government itself plays the 'moral' code with strivers versus skivers lectures. The fact is that it''s better to be a 'spiv' , who acts legally but immorally, in todays' society. What kind of moral code is that?

daphnedill Fri 08-Apr-16 20:13:17

niggly, Was Benn responsible for his wife's will?
