I come and go on Gransnet and have just returned after a break to find some really interesting topics. durhamjen is so up there with all the facts and must do such a lot of reading. She knows just how to put her finger on relevant information which is very useful to us all on here. She's evidently a driven woman - ideal for the above post. whitewave would make an admirable deputy.

Cameron hasn't said he'll leave. He still needs his sinecure as it's the only money he's got, or so he's pretending at the moment.
How old do you have to be to be an MP? 18, I think.
My grandson will be able to vote at the next election, so he will be old enough to be an MP.

Annie, you'll have to stay in long enough to get a golden handshake. A month, possibly?

Perhaps taking the "Pitt the younger" precedent a tad too far?

Ana Wed 06-Apr-16 18:37:07

By the time your grandson's old enough to be an MP I think Cameron will be long gone, durhamj/gen!

Anniebach Wed 06-Apr-16 18:33:11

I would make a fantastic Royal corespondent , I would tell the truth and definitely be fired the same day

I've been out with my grandchildren since 11 a.m. and come home to this.

Thank you very much, gangy5, for your faith in me. The problem with being PM or MP is that I would have to spend most of my time in London. I know some on here like living there, but that's not for me. Of course, as Westminster Hall is falling to bits, they could move the commons to York. That would suit me.

I wouldn't even fancy being in charge of the Northern Powerhouse, as I think it's just a government scheme to pass the buck. Manchester is being given £3.5 billion less than it was promised. It is now being called the Northern Powersham, or the Northern Poorhouse.

I prefer just campaigning and trying to get things changed that way. So sorry, whitewave and Anniebach, one of you will just have to be PM.
Anyway, I would first of all have to oust my MP, and I think she is doing a brilliant job.
By the way, I like the new name. Perhaps I should get myself kicked off and come back under that name. I gen up on lots of things, getting my information from a variety of sources.Anyone with internet access could do the same, but many of you are not bothered.
I do appreciate it when my links are appreciated, so I'll just carry on as I am at the moment. However, the future - who knows? Maybe I should just persuade my grandson to stand. He'd definitely put Cameron in his place, although he would probably be banned from the House in doing so.

Anniebach Wed 06-Apr-16 18:13:56

Yet I wouldn't think of something as stupid as the pasty tax

Utopia, here we come!!

rosesarered Wed 06-Apr-16 16:13:01

grin Sorted.

Jane10 Wed 06-Apr-16 16:10:56

Djen for PM and Anniebach for chancellor of course? We couldn't possibly go wrong there!

Gracesgran Wed 06-Apr-16 15:57:16

I can see a lot of good in this suggestion - I just wonder if DJen is rather too wise to take it on.

I see we are following in the great tradition of misspelling the names of possible future PMs. grin

nigglynellie Wed 06-Apr-16 15:56:29

Indeed it is!! A bit of light relief perhaps?!!! No one in their right mind these days would want to be in government never mind PM! If nothing else, economics gets in the way of just about everything, or the EU, or the Chinese, or anything/everything else you can think of!

rosesarered Wed 06-Apr-16 15:39:42

Even Djen would not want the poisoned chalice of PM dom, but must admit I did think 'this is a joke' for a thread.

nigglynellie Wed 06-Apr-16 15:33:59

I think all governments do!!

Anniebach Wed 06-Apr-16 15:00:11

Think it's the government which needs that advice nigglenellie

Stansgran Wed 06-Apr-16 14:57:10

They've got the date wrong April 1 was so last week

phoenix Wed 06-Apr-16 14:49:08

This IS a joke, right?
