If we were going to play Who's Your Favourite Royal...

We knew someone with learning difficulties who was an enthusiastic royalist and was pleased to recognise Prince William when he queued up behind her at the checkout in Tesco in St Andrews,

She looked at him and said "Are you Prince William? Would you like me to curtsey..?"
He replied "No, that won't be necessary, we'll just shake hands , pleased to meet you"

It made her day and when we heard about it, we thought Prince William (a young student at the time) had handled that situation very well,

I've always liked Anne. She had an Old England watch like mine in the 60's. Someone was once comparing her work for Save The Children with Diana's kissing and cuddling and Anne said that you didn't have to love children to feel that every child deserved a decent life. It seemed very much like the way I think. When we've seen film of her working with Riding for the Disabled she always seems to be treating the children as equals - none of the Time Bandits " And you're a robber too are you?" attitude.

Yes, I like Camilla too. She's done wonders for the P of W, and for that she should be commended. DH met the Prince years ago at a trade fair, and he,DH, having been a bit sceptical, was very impressed with the interest the Prince showed, and the knowledge he seemed to have. Maybe he was briefed, but he went down very well. Not keen on the Duke of York, or the ghastly Princess Michael. What about the York princesses? Perhaps they look better in real life!! I read somewhere that they are very sweet(!!) girls, bearing in mind their dreadful parents!!! All in all, the royals are not too bad and I hope Prince George makes the throne.

There are too many of them. We need to be more like the Scandinavian countries and have only a small 'royal' family - perhaps the Queen, Philip and Charles. The rest should earn their own living like the rest of us. Having said that, I would not like this country to be a republic. Anyway, I don't have a favourite but Andrew and the horrible Princess Michael are definitely my 'unfavourites'. I do have to confess to a liking for Camilla as she seems a down to earth type who has cheered up Charles - and he certainly needed cheering up.

Harry looks increasingly like a Tudor- I imagine Henry looked just like him at this age.

I've always had a soft spot for William. I remember him walking so bravely behind his mothers coffin. I think he always tries to do the right thing. Hope its a long time before he has to take up the big job!

I think the PoW has a hard time.... would you like to know you'll only get the top job when your mother dies? What an odd situation. Apparently the Queen doesnt celebate her succession as for her, it is the anniversary of her father's death. I'm pleased P. Charles has at last found happiness, and hats off to the Duchess of Cornwall for that. I reckon she's probably the only person in this dysfunctional family who won't take any of his (alleged ) imperious eccentricity. So she's high up on my list, as is the Princess Royal , not blessed with super-star looks but a real worker (unlike her brother, Back-Pocket Andy). Her children especially Zara Tindall are as near normal as the Windors get... . DD meets her at horsey events (apologies for the name dropping.... but just shows how accessible she, Mike and their handful of a little daughter are)
Like Prince Harry, and he does some really good work, but for my taste he can be a bit blokey... but then I'm a septegenerian granny, so wha'da I know?
I think we may be heading for a colourless head of state nigglynellie but most of us will be pushing up daisies by that time! If the monarchy is still functioning... who knows?

Favourite royals? The Queen, Prince Charles, Princess Ann, Prince Phillip. Most attractive royal has to be Prince Harry.
Not particularly a royalist, but have nothing against them either. Much better than a colourless head of state, i.e. China and others of similar ilk! Mind you that's just about all of them!!

I echo Alima's post too. If I had to chose one it would be Princess Anne as I have also seen, close up, how hard working, dedicated and 'human' she is.

Princess Anne without a doubt. Apart from her attempts to bring her children up as far as possible without the obvious trappings of royalty she is extremely hard-working. I also have knowledge of her personal empathy and kindness when no-one's looking.

I think I'd be proud to be granny to the two princes and I find their closeness to each other quite moving.

Queen, but after that Duchess Kate, after that Zara.

Zara especially seems to have job? That doesnt land her in hot water.

Not a Royalist-most definitely not- but I'm betting Charles has a really good sense of humour. Apart from being Royal, he seems quite self-deprecating. A good egg.

Apart from the Queen and Prince Phillip who are amazing I really like Princess Ann and Prince Harry. Now closely followed by Sarah Chatto who comes across as a lovely person.
