EU - I'm in a quandary

I haven't read through all these posts, far too many and argumentative, but yesterday I was talking with a friend whose daughter emigrated to New Zealand with her family, and now has dual citizenship. My friend said that her daughter was a little cross with herself because she had missed out on her chance to vote on the referendum debate in this country. I just sort of mentioned, that well she did not live here any more, so it was not really any of her business, and the reply to that was "well it might be good for New Zealand if we were no longer in the EU". Really? I thought it was all about this country, and those folk who live here, and what was best for us, whether it is in our out.

You are correct my list yesterday does refer to all political parties, both campaigns IN or OUT , most of the media coverage and sadly a hell of a lot of the content on Gransnet threads concerning the referendum.

Insulting the opposition. The latter I firmly believe has caused a situation where people have 'Switched Off' , 'Stuck their fingers in their ears' and 'Simply not listening'.

Well, I watched Gove on the BBC late last night, and I found him very frightening. Not that he answered any of the questions...I don't think he answered a single one. He just spoke in soundbites, over and over again, and they were 'control', 'Leave' and 'democracy' with a few others thrown in. He made people in that audience feel that each individual would have control and power over all the money they would now have. I won't have control over that money; it will be a Conservative Government that I didn't vote for which will probably be led by, and have a cabinet consisting of people that I loathe and despise. Not only has this referendum set neighbour against neighbour but I'm not sure that the parties themselves will get over this for a long time.I and my whole family are deeply troubled and saddened by all this.

I was just replying to you - we were talking about some schools producing a higher proportion of Govt ministers etc - I simply said that in France it was a bit different rent but depended on the UNI you went to - which type of post Bac education.

And it was just a comment which referred to many previous posts so no reason to be snippy

Jalima I was simply giving you an example of some thing I am aware of. The school the people went to before taking their Bac is immaterial - there are not the same sort of private schools here as in UK. Any private schools are very affordable here for anyone as the fees are very low. It is the type of Uni they either choose to go to or are accepted in which counts for paths to jobs so there really was no reason for your remark but well done to your dd for doing so well
