Are some councils not fit for purpose?

The error cost the council £30,000 in printing and postal costs
This is not the first time an error has been made on poll cards issued by Basingstoke Borough Council.
In 2010, 11,000 voters in north Hampshire did not receive their polling card in time for the General Election.
This mistake cost £3994 to send out emergency mailshots to all those affected. And in May this year, voters in the Brookvale and Kings Furlong area in Basingstoke had to be issued with a new ballot paper because of a printing error which saw the wrong information on the candidates printed for the local elections.

where do they find these people and even worse who gives them a job. We have some talented people in this country looking for work yet these councils get away with shoddy work that we have to pay for again and again

East Dunbartonshire Council came under fire for an underspend of £5m whilst increasing council tax well above the cost of inflation. The council defends it position by stating they were holding £2m+ in reserve for emergencies. What about all the potholes and crumbling road surfaces, hall closures, public toilet facility closures, library closures. I can only assume none of these are seen as emergencies.

Their lack of business acumen and effectiveness would not be tolerated in the private sector.

I don't think any of them could run a household never mind a council

And the interesting thing is that each and every one of us pays more for our local council than we do to the EU. Where are the protesters?

Do we have to have the eu threw at us in every thread ?
