Corbyn and No Confidence

MPs are proposing a vote of No Confidence in Corbyn, but we all know they didn't want him in the first place. Could it be that these MPs kept quiet during the run up to the referendum and are now just taking advantage of a situation they helped create? Is a leader only as strong as the generals that stand behind them?

At each other's throats or disagreeing Daphne ? Both want to stand but it would be daft to have two

Just in case people haven't read the Chakrabarti Report on antisemiticism in the Labour Party, this is the link:

www.39essex.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Chakrabarti-Inquiry-Report-30June16.pdf

I haven't changed my mind about endemic antisemiticism in the Labour Party, despite this latest incident. I've watched a couple of different videos of the incident and it seems to me that the activist wasn't antisemitic, but over-zealous and paranoid about the media. Corbyn seemed on another planet, which I think is the problem Labour has.

It also seemed to me that 'Venus' over-egged her case with many copy/pastes from various websites, some of which weren't factually accurate and were irrelevant to antisemiticism in the Labour Party.

I urge people to read the Chakrabarti Report. She's not uncritical, but the report doesn't indicate any deliberately antisemitic conspiracy within the Labour Party.

OK! Maybe I exaggerated. I'm just getting a bit fed up of politicians behaving like schoolkids.

Would it really be that daft to have two? I don't know which one would make a better leader.

Corbyn must have the hide of a rhino.

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:03:35

Nothing anti Semitic was said by the Heckler but Rosesarered wants it to be so. Venus was anti Palastinian

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:08:49

ab, I still disagree about the need for a woman. If May is elected, she won't be Thatcher, who would have caused anybody, male or female, problems.

What nonsense from you annieb .... Re-read the thread about Corbyn, the Labour Party and anti-semitism, Venus had all sorts of flak shot at her from a few who were determined not to have either Corbyn or Labour besmirched, and in fact, you were one of those posters! Also daphnedil and as Venus was the only Jewish poster commenting it was disturbing to see the dismissive remarks aimed at her.Any Jewish Gran reading any of that would have ducked out of Gransnet fast.

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:24:11

And any .muslim would have ducked out fast . No one supported anti semitism ,

rosesarered Tue 05-Jul-16 15:26:21

Just because Chakrabarti has found that 'there is no deliberate antisemitic conspiracy' in the Labour Party does not mean there is no anti-semitism there.

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:26:30

We will see Daphne , males are never comfortable disagreeing or criticising a woman publicly , not full force

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:28:22

Keep going Rosesarered , . It keeps you happy , bless

Anya Tue 05-Jul-16 15:28:30

What?

rosesarered Tue 05-Jul-16 15:29:20

Corbyn, as you can see plainly now, would be the last person to deal with ANY problem within the Labour Party, he is useless.

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:29:59

roses, Much of what she had to say way copied and pasted directly from websites run by organisations supportive of the Israeli state. All you have to do is copy a chunk of text and paste it into Google. I gave her 'flak' because much of what she posted was irrelevant to the Labour Party. Some of it was also being posted indiscriminately on to many other social media sites. She wasn't interacting with posters, but posting propaganda.

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:30:02

Sigh

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:31:43

I don't agree with you, ab, so we'll have to agree to differ. It depends on the character of the individuals.

rosesarered Tue 05-Jul-16 15:31:43

annieb.... Your problem is that everything is intensely personal to you, and your posts then become childish.

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:31:59

way=was

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:33:17

Have you read the recommendations at the end of the report, roses?

rosesarered Tue 05-Jul-16 15:35:48

dd I do accept that the thread got out of hand with too much historic detail.

rosesarered Tue 05-Jul-16 15:37:11

dd I will read the Chakrabarti report.

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 15:39:56

I would if I were you. Chakrabarti accepts that insensitive things have been said and makes various recommendations. There will no doubt be some people who think she's being overly politically correct.

Anniebach Tue 05-Jul-16 15:59:50

Fair enough Daphne

daphnedill Tue 05-Jul-16 16:01:28

Some of the Chakrobarti report does reflect on comments made on the Anti - Semitism in the labour Party and Universities thread, such as the use of the word Zio (klu klux klan preferred referenceas an intended insult). Chakrobarti says Labour members should resist the use of words Hitler, Naazi and Holocaust metaphores, distortions and comparisons in debate about Israel-Palestine in particular. (good luck with that one!)

The Inquiry by Chakrobarti was not what could be deemed as 'in depth' but the findings have been made. I wish she had not joined the Labour Party or passed noted to Corbyn at the Select Committee as this could lead to possible questions .

As for the Shami Chakrobarti Inquiry Press Conference I was watching it live but I can't find which station it was being aired on, although it would have been Sky or BBC news 24. The point is when Labour MP Ruth Smeeth was accused by activist Marc Wadsworth of basically conspiracy with the right wing paper the Telegraph and then proceed to go on about the lack of coloured people in the room Corbyn stood there and just did nothing, Chakrobarti had to intervene because of his decision to either let Wadsworth make his point known which chimes with Corbyn or because he is weak and cannot take control. In fact the 'launch' of the Anti Semitism Inquiry finding turned out to ironically cause more
trouble because of the interpretation of Corbyns own words , Marc Wadsworths intervention and the fact Corbyn laughed with him on leaving the room and then to top it all Corbyns statement about the situation in front of the Select Committee.

Couldn't make it up.
