I think it will be interesting to track what the result of the vote brings us. Good or bad.

Friday 24 th June

Result out.

France wants to renegotiate the Le Touquet agreement

£ has the biggest drop since 1985

Mark Carney moved to try to steady the markets

Scottish first minister suggested that they are highly likely to go for a second referendum

Tegan Mon 27-Jun-16 22:20:35

Maybe it was hacked by people wanting to bring it into disrepute?

Elegran Mon 27-Jun-16 22:24:47

Some signatures have been disallowed and removed. That doesn't invalidate them all.

I wonder whether Donald Duck and Elvis Presley have signed? They are keen to sign most petitions.

Elegran Mon 27-Jun-16 22:26:39

3,879,156 now. That is when those proved to be dodgy have been removed (but I don't know whether the names of Donald and Elvis are/were on it)

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 22:27:54

That particular information was shared, petra. Shame you missed it.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 22:31:51

The map is interesting. It's similar to the referendum map. People in the north east are not signing it. Cambridge, Oxford and London have the greatest number of signatures.

Tegan Mon 27-Jun-16 22:36:25

Can anyone tell me the voting pattern of those living abroad (not Gibraltar)? I would assume it's overwhelmingly remain, but nothing surprises me now.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 22:41:42

It seems, Tegan, that a lot of expats did not receive their postal votes. Some received polling cards, but the councils would not change them, so they lost out. There could be an inquiry into it by the electoral commission.

daphnedill Mon 27-Jun-16 22:48:30

I'm not sure that the voting pattern for people living abroad is available. The figures we're seeing about voting patterns are based on exit polls carried out by Lord Ashcroft. Presumably voters living abroad weren't available on the day to be polled.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 22:56:36

But they mostly did postal votes, which presumably could have been checked. Never even thought about it.

Tegan Mon 27-Jun-16 23:04:43

Seeing the results coming through last week I clung to the hope that those votes would stem the tide of the leave vote.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 23:08:14

The postal votes were counted first in every constituency, as there were there before the boxes arrived.

daphnedill Mon 27-Jun-16 23:09:26

I don't know, dj. I know somebody who works for Democratic Services in my council and is in charge of election admin. I'll ask her how it works. The information about postal votes might be restricted information.

I wonder if the reason the EU won't accept our request for informal talks before Brexit is official,is that they see the backlash from the UK and hope for a climbdown of some description?

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 23:39:15

They said that before the result, though, before the backlash.
Cameron had discussions and got some concessions, but they have all gone now. Informal talks are not in the treaty.

daphnedill Mon 27-Jun-16 23:55:18

This is how the delays to invoking Article 50 are being seen in the German press

www.dw.com/en/merkel-hollande-in-full-agreement-on-brexit-negotiations/a-19359282

The EU wants to get over the uncertainty and get on with things. I also think it suspects that the UK saw the referendum as part of a negotiating process to get a better deal.

obieone Tue 28-Jun-16 08:59:45

It gives their financial markets uncertainty too. They dont like uncertainty.

Everywhere else in the world accepted the result as soon as it happened.
Imagine if they didn't. It would be them saying that democracy doesnt count. It wouldnt look good on them.
If there had been electoral fraud reported on a large scale, that might have been different, but there wasn't. And a 3.8% margin is decisive.

daphnedill Tue 28-Jun-16 09:04:06

They also see the UK behaving like a spoilt child and they have a point. The UK already has concessions which other countries don't have.

BREXIT - the winners

I assume they're going to put their profits into helping the people who voted for this (maybe not).

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 28-Jun-16 09:29:23

The UK is not behaving like a spoilt child!

'Good luck for today Dave. Don't let them give you the bum's rush. You know we need a bit of space to think this through. Work yer magic on Angela!'

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 28-Jun-16 09:30:48

Ignore those quote marks. It was of course me saying that to DC.

Tegan Tue 28-Jun-16 09:37:40

Nigel F stage is now on the front row representing 'us' in Europe. Not representing me Nige. This is how the world and Europe will see us.The idiots sat there with one of his little union jacks. (By the way my tablet won't let me type his name....)

Beammeupscottie Tue 28-Jun-16 09:41:39

The bum's rush! He needs a good kick up the ass.

POGS Tue 28-Jun-16 09:44:25

Junker speaking live.

He says Article 50 must be invoked quickly but he understands not by 9 o.clock tomorrow. Hmmm

Junker stated this " 'I' HAVE PUT A BAN ON ANY NEGOTIATIONS WTH THE UK BY ANYBODY IN THE EU'. I HAVE TOLD ALL NO SECRET NEGOTIATIONS!" He went on about smokey rooms behind doors dealing, not going to happen. Some MEP's clapped others looked stoney faced and some shook their heads.

He said I am accused as being some sort of beaurocrat by the UK, I am not, mixture of feeling from the MEP's.

"We cannot take Britain aside and do secret negotiations, I have said I have instructed the Commission there will be no secret negotiations".

Tegan Tue 28-Jun-16 09:50:43

Osborne now not ruling out tax rises.
