Junker stated this " 'I' HAVE PUT A BAN ON ANY NEGOTIATIONS WTH THE UK BY ANYBODY IN THE EU'. I HAVE TOLD ALL NO SECRET NEGOTIATIONS!" He went on about smokey rooms behind doors dealing, not going to happen. Some MEP's clapped others looked stoney faced and some shook their heads.

He said I am accused as being some sort of beaurocrat by the UK, I am not, mixture of feeling from the MEP's.

"We cannot take Britain aside and do secret negotiations, I have said I have instructed the Commission there will be no secret negotiations".

The bum's rush! He needs a good kick up the ass.

They also see the UK behaving like a spoilt child and they have a point. The UK already has concessions which other countries don't have.

It gives their financial markets uncertainty too. They dont like uncertainty.

Everywhere else in the world accepted the result as soon as it happened.
Imagine if they didn't. It would be them saying that democracy doesnt count. It wouldnt look good on them.
If there had been electoral fraud reported on a large scale, that might have been different, but there wasn't. And a 3.8% margin is decisive.

The EU wants to get over the uncertainty and get on with things. I also think it suspects that the UK saw the referendum as part of a negotiating process to get a better deal.

They said that before the result, though, before the backlash.
Cameron had discussions and got some concessions, but they have all gone now. Informal talks are not in the treaty.

I wonder if the reason the EU won't accept our request for informal talks before Brexit is official,is that they see the backlash from the UK and hope for a climbdown of some description?

I don't know, dj. I know somebody who works for Democratic Services in my council and is in charge of election admin. I'll ask her how it works. The information about postal votes might be restricted information.

The postal votes were counted first in every constituency, as there were there before the boxes arrived.

Seeing the results coming through last week I clung to the hope that those votes would stem the tide of the leave vote.

But they mostly did postal votes, which presumably could have been checked. Never even thought about it.

I'm not sure that the voting pattern for people living abroad is available. The figures we're seeing about voting patterns are based on exit polls carried out by Lord Ashcroft. Presumably voters living abroad weren't available on the day to be polled.

It seems, Tegan, that a lot of expats did not receive their postal votes. Some received polling cards, but the councils would not change them, so they lost out. There could be an inquiry into it by the electoral commission.

Can anyone tell me the voting pattern of those living abroad (not Gibraltar)? I would assume it's overwhelmingly remain, but nothing surprises me now.

The map is interesting. It's similar to the referendum map. People in the north east are not signing it. Cambridge, Oxford and London have the greatest number of signatures.

3,879,156 now. That is when those proved to be dodgy have been removed (but I don't know whether the names of Donald and Elvis are/were on it)

Some signatures have been disallowed and removed. That doesn't invalidate them all.

I wonder whether Donald Duck and Elvis Presley have signed? They are keen to sign most petitions.

Maybe it was hacked by people wanting to bring it into disrepute?
