I think it will be interesting to track what the result of the vote brings us. Good or bad.

Friday 24 th June

Result out.

France wants to renegotiate the Le Touquet agreement

£ has the biggest drop since 1985

Mark Carney moved to try to steady the markets

Scottish first minister suggested that they are highly likely to go for a second referendum

petra Mon 27-Jun-16 22:12:43

Just been reading how the website calling for a second referendum was hacked. The post codes are being sent all round the world by Twitter. I'm sure lots of you knew what was going on but didn't want to share this particular info.

I think we'll still be allowed to play in the Eurocup, varian.
I wonder if us leaving has given Iceland more reason to try and beat us.

varian Mon 27-Jun-16 20:51:03

Our AAA credit rating has been downgraded for the first time since 1978

Iceland is beating England 2-1 at half time (Iceland is a proper country still in the EU)

Ana Mon 27-Jun-16 20:50:35

Blimey! So what?

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 20:48:30

Murdoch wanted us out. His reasoning was that when he went to Downing Street they talked to him, but when he went to Brussels they ignored him.
Strangely, the Sun wanted out and the Times wanted remain. Even Murdoch thought it was on a knife-edge.
Just realised bags voted against her paper.

Nandalot Mon 27-Jun-16 20:44:31

Been pointed to an article in 'The Sun'. Don't know how to do a link but its headline is Pound-emonium or similar. Looks at how the leave vote will affect us financially. Seems now to be agreeing with the 'scaremongering' of the Remains or at least saying it is that way now and we shall have to wait and see if it continues. More likely scenarios rather than scaremongering eh?

I know I harp on about 'The Sun' but the stranglehold that the Mursoch press has on this country does not contribute to reasoned coverage on any subject, let alone one like this with such important ramifications for the future.

dj similar situation to Thatcher's resignation in 1990? Except that Cameron isn't in Thatcher's class. Although I hated her principles, she was a much cleverer politician.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 17:44:51

Tricia, I have read that if Theresa May is chosen there will not need to be a general election, but if Boris is there will be, because he was not a member of the government which drew up the mandate.

A petition to sign to let the EU know we are not all wanting to leave the EU.

whitewave Mon 27-Jun-16 17:36:30

Independence eh annie? grin

TriciaF Mon 27-Jun-16 17:23:36

Also, I can't see anyone being eager to take over the post of PM with the problems ahead, none experienced before.

TriciaF Mon 27-Jun-16 17:22:13

As durhamjen wrote, I do think there should be a general election though. Not just because of the complete mess-up that was made in the "preparation" for this vital referendum, but because of the splits in both major parties.
I was expecting a vote of "no confidence" in the Tory govt., followed by a call for a general election. Maybe it will come, I hope so. Parliament was only re-convened today.

obieone Mon 27-Jun-16 16:23:53

definition of fascism, Beammeupscottie.

It requires nationalism, yes there is some of that

right wing - I think about 2/3 of Labour voters voted remain, so hardly right-wing!

authoritarian - the referendum meant that everyones vote was literally counted so definitely not authoritarian!

Nandalot Mon 27-Jun-16 16:14:31

And Kelvin MacKenzie now regrets voting leave after encouraging others to do so in 'The Sun'. Words fail me.

durhamjen Mon 27-Jun-16 16:10:31

Clegg has just suggested an early general election. Cameron did not say no.

Do MEPs get paid in Euros? If so, their pay has just gone up.

whitewave Mon 27-Jun-16 14:50:42

Taxes will be going up. Living standards going to drop.

Don't anyone dare say that is scare mongering. IFS man just advised.

Perhaps Farage has gone to Brussels, to take his seat and get his pay while he can!

Beammeupscottie Mon 27-Jun-16 14:37:38

I tell you why he has gone quiet. Job done and let the Tory party pick up the baton of fascism.

An estate agent neighbour told me that all their viewings booked before Friday have cancelled in the anticipation of a price crash.
