I think it will be interesting to track what the result of the vote brings us. Good or bad.

Friday 24 th June

Result out.

France wants to renegotiate the Le Touquet agreement

£ has the biggest drop since 1985

Mark Carney moved to try to steady the markets

Scottish first minister suggested that they are highly likely to go for a second referendum

whitewave Sat 25-Jun-16 10:54:46

gracesgran that's right. The 27 will then meet ( and I am sure they are doing this already) and decide on divorce settlement. We have no say whatsoever. Don't forget we helped to devise this.

We can then try to negotiate a better deal, but anyone of the 27 can veto it.

Of course we can always say sod it and go on our own. But forget any sort on world economic influence or healthy growth. The future is going to be incredibly difficult. I hope the Brexiters are up to it? What do you think?

Leave campaigners breaking the law by tweeting photos of ballot papers in voting booths.
They can be fined up to £5000 and have up to six months in prison. They have been reported to the electoral commission.

durhamjen Sat 25-Jun-16 10:49:40

And they want us to serve article 50 quickly, Gracesgran. They do not want to go by Cameron's timetable.
Wouldn't you have thought with all his talks in Brussels, he would have sorted that out?

When do we stop paying MEPs?

durhamjen Sat 25-Jun-16 10:46:44

My brother in law lives in Chepstow. That is half Welsh and Half English, I think, divided by the River Wye bridge. He is happy to live the Welsh side. Most of Monmouthshire is in Wales.

Gracesgran Sat 25-Jun-16 10:44:03

- Surge in applications for Irish Passports

- Just been confirmed on the Beeb News that the remaining countries have the whip hand as soon as we serve article 50.

For those who give forth such platitudes as "oh it is only temporary" and not to worry etc. Have they any idea the world wide activity now being undertaken in damage limitation? The time and money it is costing? The fallout from this vote onto ordinary folk? As they are always the ones to suffer.

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:25:07

Jalima, I did the sensible thing and am no incomer
I meant Monmouthshire and Cardiff (not sure where you live anyway, perhaps one of those places).

Jane10 Sat 25-Jun-16 10:25:00

Oh God. Tell that to some of the threads complaining about brexiters being called thick!

June 25 - day 2

The markets

Thousands of jobs are at risk in the UK after companies are deciding when and if to relocate to Europe.
These include - JP Morgan, Airbus, Toyota and Ford and Morgan Stanley
Businesses are reviwing their investment plans in the UK
Companies are issuing profit warnings These include BA, Sports Direct.
The collapse in the pound will lead to an increase in imports.
A South African company bidding for Poundland has pulled out. It wanted an EU presence.
Stock Markets around the world fell sharply.
FTSE closed at 3% down But this was only after the BoE stepped with£250bn of OUR MONEY
There is likely to be serious implications in the Financial Services in London where 360k people are employed. Many of these businesses are likely to relocate to Europe.

Rolls Royce and Jaguar pledge to stand by their work force.

Gosh just think what would have happened if remain had been correct in their Project fear!!!!!!! How very dare Brexit suggest we didn't know what we were talking about!!

Anniebach Sat 25-Jun-16 10:22:43

Jalima, I did the sensible thing and am no incomer

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:19:10

and the majority did the sensible thing anyway
but perhaps they were the 'incomers'

Anniebach Sat 25-Jun-16 10:17:31

Nothing sarcastic sunseeker, just many years of mixing with lovely English people and arrogant English people in Wales , your statement - providing employment ? What has that to do with moving to Wales ? Nothing . We have English in my area who have retired here and have enrolled in Welsh language classes, we also have had English people who complained because a church service was in Welsh - in The Church of Wales !

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:17:02

Jamila, how can Monmouth voters be classed as Welsh?
Well, I think they do, very vocally, even if it was classed as England when they were born there.

and the majority did the sensible thing anyway

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:12:48

I think a lot of people could see that the result in Wales was predictable, with the return of 7 UKIP members to the Assembly so recently.

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:11:19

-they had a small business and provided employment. Bless them, no doubt they expected the peasants to curtesy
Anniebach !! really

I think they just expected their neighbours to speak (perhaps they couldn't pass the time of day to the English newcomers because they only spoke Welsh)
don't take that seriously it as daft as your post wink

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:07:30

The affluent areas of Wales voted to remain, Cardiff and Monmouth
There should have been a box on the ballot paper for a tick for nationality, I would like to know how many who voted out in Wales were not Welsh
Cardiff and Monmouthshire probably have a higher percentage of non-Welsh, and voted Remain wink

sunseeker Sat 25-Jun-16 10:07:21

Annibach Why the sarcastic comment. When I said my friends had a business and were providing employment I was merely pointing out that they were making a contribution to the area. They are now making that contribution in the North of England.

daphnedill Sat 25-Jun-16 10:03:55

They are English and all their friends and neighbours were English.

Jalima Sat 25-Jun-16 10:03:20

Welshwife
the roads were getting better - with funding from the Welsh government and the EU

Welshwife Sat 25-Jun-16 10:00:12

daphne what did your In- laws mean about not knowing Welsh people who qualified to vote? There was no qualification other than being on the electoral roll. I voted in the devolution polls (living in Wales) and we both voted 'no' to having an assembly. However I must say that it has worked far better than we dared hope and the current Furst Minister is very very good - he is also a great family man!!

Having just seen some of the people who are so pleased they voted 'out' I would say that I am twenty years older than them so where do they get the statistics?

There's quite a call for "Londonexit" - after all 78% of us voted to Remain. Thats the one thing that gives me some solace.

Anniebach Sat 25-Jun-16 09:37:36

Jamila, how can Monmouth voters be classed as Welsh? Someone posted here this week it was English untill the seventies , and Monmouthshire has been placed along with the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff as the wealthy areas of Wales. Comparing Monmouth with Merthyr or Blaina is the same as comparing the Cotswolds with Hull
