just had a look anniebach - I would say that Monmouthshire is one of the least Welsh counties but they voted to Remain by a narrow margin.
Although the MP campaigned for Brexit.
They must have ignored him

There should have been a box on the ballot paper for a tick for nationality, I would like to know how many who voted out in Wales were not Welsh
Glad you put a
next to that anniebach
Very few, I should imagine!
Meaning that Wales always seems very Welsh iyswim
Someone may have posted this on another thread already, so apologies if you have already seen it, it was on FB this morning:

I bet he's not the only one
DS said he saw someone being interviewed who said that he had had no idea that EU money had helped regenerate his town centre and provided jobs
A 2nd referendum for Scotland was always on the cards,I am surprised that they didn,t separate from the UK at the first.
I am far more concerned that the City of London is making a bid to break away.
Prior to the election, political commentators and financial experts spoke of it as being a vague notion possible but highly improbable..Today,they are saying that it is in the interest of London to remain in the EU,and that it shares a similar economy to Sweden.
Those who voted out did so in the belief that the UK would have London as its financial heart.
Far fewer would have voted out if more credence had been given to this possibility during the campaign.
I feel duped.
Wales and Cornwall should not get EU money protected after they rejected it. After all the government will be paying for all the new border controls, employing lots of guards etc to keep all those pesky immograntz out. Don't expect Boris will find any more money down the back of that £350m a week sofa.
gettingonabit, Carwyn said earlier in the week Wales would still work with the EU, .
I am sure fear spouted by Johnson and Gove plus distrust of Cameron and Osbourn caused South Wales to vote as they did
@annie
My ex mother in law and her husband lived just outside Cardiff. I remember when there was a vote for devolution, they told me that they didn't know any Welsh people eligible to vote, so it was decided by English ex-pats. I think it's the same situation in North Wales over the border from Chester.
daphne I don't think the Powers-that-Be in Wales saw the result coming. Carwyn Jones looked like a broken man on the News last night.
I think there was a feeling that Wales would go for the most obvious choice ie Remain but the result has defied logic.
The Welsh Govt seems to have underestimated the level of disenfranchisement that the people feel. It's a kick back, a two-fingered gesture.

love sunseekers comment of her friends -they had a small business and provided employment. Bless them, no doubt they expected the peasants to curtesy
I think history will show that this decision was the beginning of the end of our economic strenth
Now they will only receive their money according to the vagaries of the current government
"Both Cornwall (The Independent) and Wales appear to be asking to keep their EU funding having voted to come out."
Words fail me!
What the heck did they think the "experts" were going on about? Did they really think it was all doom-mongering?
On my university course there are people from all over the world.
There reaction is total astonishment. One American said
"And you thought we Americans were dumb"?
- Moody's downgrade UKs Credit Rating from "stable" to "negative
- Leading Brexit campaigner states there was never a promise to reduce immigrant numbers. (Radio 4 "Today" 25/06/16)
- Growth in numbers of "regrexiters" (Radio 4 "Today" 25/06/16)
- More evidence of those taking us out of the EU had very little knowledge with huge numbers Googling "What is the EU" (Radio 4 "Today" 25/06/16)
- Both Cornwall (The Independent) and Wales appear to be asking to keep their EU funding having voted to come out.
Wonder where that was. I am English and moved to South Wales twenty five years ago and never found anything but kindness. We still go back a couple of times a years staying for several weeks. I have heard tales of some areas in the North not being so friendly but have no experience of that
Wales has always welcomed immigrants Except possibly if they are English. I personally know one family who moved to live and work in Wales who were driven out by their neighbours. They had a small business which provided employment. Through them I have heard of others who were also made to feel so unwelcome that they returned to England.
Wales and Cornwall don't need money from the EU do they? Didn't Boris and Gove promise they'd still get the money from that £350m per week we will be saving? And it will all be spent on the NHS as well.,,,...?
Are you sure?
I know that the Tories reallocated the money so the balance has changed, but last time I looked (last year) my area was still paying out much more than it receives from central government.
My local council (Conservative) still moans about how much it pays to the central 'pot'.
Actually, daphne, it's the other way round now. The government has taken money from the poorer northern regions and given it to the rich southern ones.
I don't have the figures to hand, but some English regions receive as much as or more from Westminster per capita as Scotland. Some wealthy English regions subsidise some of the poorer ones, such as Cornwall, by paying council tax directly to Westminster, which then redistributes it. The method is, of course, a source of controversy. The difference with Scotland is that the money is handed over to the whole country rather than to counties and Scotland is free to do what it likes with the money. The Barnett formula is somewhat arbitrary, becasue (apparently) nobody really understood how the formula worked, so a figure was 'guesstimated'. It really saddens me when I see anti-Scots feeling and trotting out of the Barnett Formula as evidence that the Scots are somewhow conning the English. I really didn't want Scotland to leave the Union last time, but I see no way now that there is any reason for them to stay.
Welshwife no, the Barnett formula still exists, but the money comes from the UK government at Westminster, not England. That's the difference. Same goes for Wales.
It certaintly will Jen

The NHS, immigration pledges, both mistakes? I call them lies.
