GO has resigned from the government
Philip Hammond appointed Chancellor

I am beginning to feel a tad glum, as there are a lot of right wingers in the cabinet. May little speech may turn out like Thatchers - hot air! Although one glimmer, if she is looking to the next election she may be trying to win some of the under dogs vote, and so may be more liberal in her policies.

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 16:29:50

Yes jing all those sort of things are EU led.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-Jul-16 16:26:38

I think these pretty field edges where wild flowers are allowed to grow, might have come about due to the EU. I hope we don't lose them now.

Anya Thu 14-Jul-16 16:22:50

How do you frack a farmer? forget I asked!

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 15:57:23

I've just texted him, but no guarantee I will get a reply!!!

He'll be peeved about continual badger culling and potential fox hunting, but I'm not sure she'll get fox hunting through.

A lot of his problems now will come about funding, as a lot comes from the EU. But presumably the government won't want their voters flooded and lose their houses and livings!!! What is more worrying is the protection given to so much of our wild life etc. Carol Klein was looking at something DS has helped develop on Rye Farm nature reserve. Much of that is subject to rules and regs of EU.

What does your son think about Leadsom, whitewave?

Nandalot Thu 14-Jul-16 15:27:09

I didn't give much credence to the conspiracy theory but with May give Boris the FO beginning to wonder. Perhaps hie payoff for being a sacrificial lamb that turned the tide against Gove. Great mixed metaphors before someone else says it.

daphnedill Thu 14-Jul-16 15:19:21

She's a huge fan of fracking, so the farmers better watch out if they don't want to be fracked.

I feel sorry for the foxes too, Tegan.

With a bit of luck, she'll be kept busy visiting County Shows and judging beautiful baby competitions.

How come Grayling's got DoT? I thought it was going to be abolished. That's what happens when you take your eyes of the news for more than five minutes - I'll have to catch up.

varian Thu 14-Jul-16 15:16:04

Perhaps Theresa May thinks the environment is so unimportant that it doesn't matter how badly it is run.

Tegan Thu 14-Jul-16 15:13:14

You beat me to it, suzie. Hmm....think the poor foxes need to be a bit worried though...sad

suzied Thu 14-Jul-16 15:03:07

See Mummy Leadsom has rural affairs - good so she can make sure all those Brexiting farmers get their subsidies. Not sure if she cares much about the environment though.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 15:00:30

Damian Green got DWP and Chris Grayling for DoT.

Tegan Thu 14-Jul-16 14:48:34

That's what leapt straight into my mind sad.

Doesn't matter, I do not suppose, as they all know about this and voted for it.
Therea May's speech made me think of Thatcher's where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Never noticed any of that when she was smashing the unions.

daphnedill Thu 14-Jul-16 14:11:19

Hmmm...I wonder where Grayling will go. DWP? Beware!

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 14:06:59

Didn't know about the sexting. Just Googled it - what an idiot. You couldn't make it up. hmm

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 14:01:54

Stephen Crabb resigned.

suzied Thu 14-Jul-16 14:01:43

Stephen Crabb just resigned- I guess due to the flack he was getting due to his sexting young women story( he of the moralistic Christian persuasion ) it's one thrill a minute if you are interested in politics.

durhamjen Thu 14-Jul-16 14:01:29

Anyone know who is DWP?

durhamjen Thu 14-Jul-16 13:59:42

He'll be wecome in Greenland and most of South America, then.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 13:57:32

From the Independent - a map of all the countries Boris has insulted! grin

Tegan 'sources' are saying new departments will be announced to manage infrastructure and industry and the DoT work will be under their umbrellas. Quite a bit of the DoT is under consideration for privatisation, so who knows what will happen? My DH's agency survived one privatisation attempt, not sure it will again.

daphnedill Thu 14-Jul-16 13:52:36

"Why is the DoT closing?"

Maybe because it's not going anywhere! (I'll get my coat)

I think I read somewhere about rumours that there's going to be a new department for infrastructure, so maybe transport will be included (it makes sense).
