GO has resigned from the government
Philip Hammond appointed Chancellor

Gracesgran Wed 27-Jul-16 18:22:49

Oh dear niggly. I know you can hide behind your anonymity on here but really - calling people names? Even my six and eight year old GCs know better than that.

durhamjen Wed 27-Jul-16 18:16:44

Might have known you'd get in on the act, niggly.

nigglynellie Wed 27-Jul-16 17:27:28

Oh really! what a particularly silly comment dj. I think petra is pulling your leg somewhat and surely you can accept her banter without rearing up and squawking like an indignant hen?!!

durhamjen Wed 27-Jul-16 17:10:17

You never will grow up, will you, petra.

petra Wed 27-Jul-16 17:05:16

Your shouting again * durhamjen* How many times have I said that to the DGC today.
Still, if it makes you happy, and you don't seem to have much to make you happy, feel free smile my backs broard.

I hope the new government realises the need to collect taxes, after this report from the PAC.
Even if it doubled the number of tax experts, it would still pay for itself in the tax take.

durhamjen Wed 27-Jul-16 16:31:38

I never said you did infer that, petra. I just said I do not tell my friends where they can go and live.
GROW UP.

petra Wed 27-Jul-16 16:27:36

durhamjen Once again, twisting of words, naughty naughty. I never inferred that you had told your friends where to move to, just surprised that you mix with people who want to live under such a right wing government.
As least one of them has found that the grass isn't always greener.

durhamjen Wed 27-Jul-16 16:19:30

I do not tell my friends where they should move to, particularly when one of them is moving back home.

petra Wed 27-Jul-16 15:13:17

durhamjen. I'm amazed that you have friends who have moved to a country with such a right wing government.

Real wages in the UK down by as much as Greece's since the recession. Maybe we should all move to Poland. Actually, I know someone who has, and he and his family are loving it.

Lord chancellor, not chancellor. In charge of the law, without any background in law.

Maybe it suits May to have a very weak Chancellor.

I hope this has a good outcome.

I agree with both of you.

Anna Soubry must have pi$$ed off Theresa May big time.

Granny2016 Tue 26-Jul-16 23:59:12

Liz Truss is a very weak choice for chancellor.I was hoping that she would not be in the cabinet at all.

durhamjen Tue 26-Jul-16 23:31:40

And it showed, particularly with Grayling. Gove had to undo many of the changes Grayling made.

daphnedill Tue 26-Jul-16 23:18:27

Neither of the previous incumbents, Grayling and Gove, had any expertise in law.

Liz Truss is causing alarm in her new roll as Lord/Lady Chancellor. The legal profession has voiced an opinion that her experience is nil. She has experience of a couple of ministerial posts, including environment, food and rural affairs.
Richar Horwood QC said " she is particularly passionate about British cheeses, but nothing (she has done to date) qualifies her to defend the rule of law across government"

If May wanted a female in the role Anna Subrey would have been considered the better choice. She has demonstrated her independence and knowledge of the law.

May is considered to have shown poor judgement. The people who will suffer as ever will be the poor and immigrants.

I see Johnson has been warned about his undiplomatic comments, and told to get his act together.

Well there's a surprise!

Nurses bursaries definitely to be scrapped. Tuition fees to rise.

If we want to stay in the single market, we will have to accept EU rules on the free movement of capital, which include those on tax fraud.
Brexiters are not going to get much, are they, if they want the single market.
