Are Gransnetters just vicious online trolls?

sunseeker ! They print all my comments in the Times.

Thanks Ana.

I think it was very unfair of you to name jingl in your 'report' Jane10. Couldn't you just have said 'another poster'? Not sure what point you're trying to make...

Sadly I have to report that I was contacted by a regular poster about something jings had posted. I was very surprised. I hadn't read the posts that this person was so unhappy about and I'd not been on the forum for a day or two and the thread seemed to have slipped off the active list. I didn't do more than try to reassure the person that jings was most likely just being jings and not to resign from GN. I think she's gone now which is sad. I didn't think it was like this person at all and was actually concerned for her. A bad day? A fit of pique? I don't know.

Apart from the trolls/bullies aspect of this story, from looking at the Daily Mail article what stands out to me is the stock photos of grandmothers who all look to be great-grandmother age. It's such a dated picture of the average Granny. The average of becoming a grandmother is 50 and the majority of posters here seem to be from 50s to 70s. Those photos showed women of 75 to 85. This is something which often happens and really annoys me.

Indeed!

I tried to post a comment on the DM site defending GN members - it's not been published (what a surprise)

Jings - what a nasty thing to do, no wonder you were upset. I hate this reporting behind your back system, which can lead to plotting in a group. Much better out in the open if you have something to say, then the person can reply.
And to think this pointless thread and the GN was talked about in the DM, the most poisonous vacuous rag of them all. It's shameful.

Oh yes. "a friend of". Possibly.

#wordsoftwosyllables

Hmmm... Might have been a tinsy bit beyond her.

When I read the original puerile Uncle Jimmy post in February I thought it had been written by a friend of our Shoe Zone contributor!

I just read this and the original post, a bit busy at the moment, 50 coming here for a supper meeting on Monday evening.
Just thought the blog was a bit silly, I did not really see the point of it what does it have to do with GN at all.
I am not a royalist but found the 'dialogue' a bit rude, after all a lot of commoners have married into the royal family over the years, not always very successfully.
Ok back to getting the terrace and garden suitable for a bunch of posh folk on Monday evening,,,, grovel grovel.

mumsy just a thought. My son sees pale pink as green. He's colour blind!!!

You would know, wouldn't you?!

My own posts are also green if I log in. I thought it was to make them stand out to me but I am confused now.
I am just catching up with this thread. I remember the OP and thought it was a student prank. The responses were few compared to many other posts here and surely any professional writer must be able to stand up to criticism. Even JK Rowling.
Bullying? No evidence of that but then the poster is a writer of fiction after all.

Seems the site directs the colours Mumsy so no idea why your posts are appearing in green. Usually just the GNHQ postings.

Ditto pensionpat

I remember reading the thread at the time. Not funny or clever or indeed interesting.

Anya. I found the original post by searching "Donna air"

Apologies Nellie, still half asleep. Thought you meant article.

Maybe you have green background selected for your normal background screen Mumsy.

Mumsy not happening here!

Click on the thread link and read the article Nelliemoser. An ex GN received 'short thrift' when she posted what she considered to be a clever and witty thread and other people didn't see it that way. So she went to the newspapers (allegedly, or maybe they approached her) and gave us all a good kicking.

try this Nellie

jingles Im now confused ( doesnt take much lol) my posts are showing green in the background!?

PLEASE WILL SOMEONE tell me what the original post that generated all this fuss was about?
Please Pretty Please.
