There are about 30,000 jobs in the Nissan supply chain, mainly in the North East. The Japanese equivalent of the Department for Commerce has also advised other Japanese companies considering investing in the UK to change their plans.

dj, I saw the Nissan story on the BBC website this morning. Despite the spin on it it seemed to say very clearly that if the UK leaves the EU Nissan are out of here. How we are going to replace 6,700 jobs in the NE is a mystery to me.

WRT washerwoman's post I would say that I am always at the way some posters feel they are entitled to tell other posters how to behave...and then call for tolerance...

Murdoch is a billionaire who provides dumbed down news. The hypocrisy about 'booting out' three million EU citizens while moaning that British ex-pats might be sent back from EU countries is breathtaking.

Today's online version has an article about the American tourist who was murdered in London. However, the picture which accompanies the article and is much bigger than the one of the victim is of bikini-clad and attractive witness. What does that tell you?

Strangely enough most of those Brexit Mumsnet posters who dominated the threads nearly all disappeared straight after the result. Spooky that!

Even so there does seem to be an underlying sense of disdain amongst some posters about some of their fellow citizens. We all surely realise there is just as much (if not more) bigotry in Europe and that it is not unique to the UK.

I've been following it, Mamie . It's hilarious and so true. I'm wondering when the film will be out and who will be playing the leading characters. I don't think even the most inventive writer could have dreamed it all up.

BREXIT will be with us for years. There isn't even any agreement about what it implies amongst the people who voted nor amongst politicians. Even when people have made up their minds, it will be years before we know if the plan is deliverable.

The link was about the fact that previously the Sun had been complaining about expats being sent back to the UK and now saying that we can't kick out 3 million EU migrants.

MEANWHILE in the world of Brexit, the CEO of Nissan has said that they will not be investing any more money in the UK until they know the shape of the Brexit deal with the EU.

Yes I did read the article.I hate the tone of it,I don't like the paper at all,I would reject the offer of a free copy -but by politely saying 'no thank you'.DDs partner is a huge Liverpool fan,and they live there and I completely understand why the paper is reviled in that city.I'm very guilty myself over the years of judging quietly someone when I see them with a copy.DMIL used to take the Daily Mail and I dont care for that much either.She was a lovely MIL.
However,like Smileless,I can think of plenty of times when the person with the Sun has been a perfectly reasonable and decent human being ,not pond life.Maybe different in many ways to me.The patients I looked after who had a copy at the end of the bed.But the guy who services my car ,the people that worked in DHs depot,office and warehouse for years who were funny,loyal and who would help out anyone at the drop of a hat.And they lived and worked in an area of much higher immigration than most people on this thread experienced then, and probably now, and worked alongside colleagues from a very diverse background.

Maybe I just get and about more with my business and, instead of finding endless links from one section of the media that fit my own agenda actually chat face to face with real people.Many of whom won't share my views or read the same paper.Unless they are violent criminals,people traffickers or known terrorists I've no reason to wish them deported from this wonderfully diverse country.Now I've got a busy day,and later on down at our local food festival.Will be packed with all sorts of folk.Probably even the odd Sun reader in the crowd.
