It must be quite difficult for the police to keep their cool sometimes, but that's what they're paid to do. I used to feel the same as a teacher sometimes. It's what being a professional is about.

I think this incident pretty much sums up how different peoples minds interpret different situations.

The police should never put themselves in the position of having the race card thrown at them. Too many of them use it as an excuse for laziness (and that's from the mouth of a serving Essex Police Officer). The law is colour-blind and the police should enforce it, no matter what colour skin a person has. It works both ways.

I don't think you misinterpreted him and I'd be tempted to report the officer. The police aren't all racist, but some of them certainly are.

Yes;that's the one jen. Just been into town shopping today. Huge police presence. Asked one of them why. Was told there was an EDL march. Told him about how a EDL march in Nottingham had meant closing down the 'seaside' In the main square and cost 1/4 million to police. I said that, democracy or not I didn't think that people like that should be allowed to march and cause so much disruption. His reply was a sad 'trouble is, they're marching 25 years too late'.Unless I (as I seem to do a lot these days)misinterpreted what he meant, the police are as racist as a lot of other people in this country. This has really saddened me. I would like to 'lighten up',as suggested but, thus far haven't come across anything to make me do so.

I disagree with you, niggly. Personally, I think she's got an impossible job re Brexit, because Tories themselves are divided. It's her back benchers and some of her Cabinet colleagues who will damn her - maybe not so publicly as in Labour, because Tories have always been better at keeping up a united front, until the knives are well and truly sharpened.

Until deals are signed, sealed and delivered, it all seems like 'back of a fag packet' policy making. They're running around like a bunch of headless chickens chucking out (sorry about the pun) promises every so often to keep critics off their backs.

ww, the difference is that when there is a General Election the Tories always find the glue to stick together. They may have a smaller paid up membership on paper but they sure can get their vote out when they need to.

Of course the Tories are just as split as Labour the only difference is that first they have been split for years longer than Labour which is why we had the bloody referendum in the first place and they have largely got the media on their side - nice cosy visits by the Prime Minister to the rag king Murdoch ensures that the government knows what it has to try to achieve in order to get Murdoch support re Brexit.
