I dislike seeing words such as 'tragic' debased; what word does one then use for all those places in the world where truly horrendous things are happening.

Switzerland has always been a good place to live if one if involved in finance, hasn't it?

Tragic is what's happening in the Middle East, not companies or people choosing to leave the uk.

Syria is tragic.

I don't think the situation is tragic, granjura - people just have to get on with their lives whether they voted to remain or to leave the EU.

Of course, not everyone has the option of moving to live elsewhere.

Not just personally, but whole operations.

Tragic I agree- but those who voted 'remain' are free to go surely-and seek a better future for them and their children. Mainly the young and succesful - sadly for the UK. The reality.

And however tragic I think the whole situation is for the UK- for me personally that would be the real silver lining...

Welshwife wouldn't have anything to do with a general election next year in France, would it. I won't hold my breath.

Julia Hartley certainly likes the sound of her own voice, doesn't she. I thought it was funny when DD pointed out that JRM [who I'm ashamed to say I actually found quite amusing in a Tim Nice But Dim/Ripping Yarns sort of way] was a fan of Donald Trump. However, all the whoops and cheers when anything brexit like was mentioned made me realise that nothing much has changed since the referendum. Just an attitude of 'we'll show'em', albeit not knowing who 'they' are or what it is they're going to 'show'em'. Anyway, I'm off to the sea and the sand for three weeks and intend to bury my head in the latter for the duration#needabreakfrompolitics
