This could and probably will go on for yearsgrin

Just to note that as well as Japan putting down markers, Australia has advised that we will behind the EU in any trade negotiations.

Our huge Asda used to be Carrefour, then Gateway, then Asda/Walmart and now renamed Asda, (a subsidiary of Walmart)

Jalima Thu 13-Oct-16 17:57:09

I liked Estonia when we visited.

Ceesnan Thu 13-Oct-16 17:51:37

Asda was taken over by Walmart, Morrison's took over the majority of the Safeway supermarkets durhamjen.

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 17:51:37

It's Asda, by the way, but you could easily have found that out for yourself.

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 17:50:26

Has anyone tried this?

Well, that's all this thread's about really isn't it? Speculation!

Nearly time for Brexit 4 and more of the same...hmm

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 17:44:10

I think it's still ' or 2.5% whichever is the greater', whitewave. Unless our new chancellor changes it in the budget.

Ceesnan, is Morrisons the group that was bought out by Walmart, or is that Asda?
I wonder what difference Brexit will make to either of those companies.

Ceesnan Thu 13-Oct-16 17:10:44

Not personally durhamjen, but it was easy to work it out, as the conversation at the school gates was about the topic. Mind you, I was in Morrison's and they had loads of the stuff.

whitewave Thu 13-Oct-16 17:10:30

Yes but didn't Osborne change it from RPI to CPI because it will pay out less as it includes the mortgage inflation rate?

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 17:07:18

Isn't it based on the rate in September, whitewave?

Ceesnan Thu 13-Oct-16 17:06:59

No, Tegan' the hysteria I referred to was about the fuss being generated about Tesco and Unilever, as I'm sure you were well aware. I have a DS who works for Unilever and he said this goes on all the time between suppliers and supermarkets, it's just that someone, for their own reasons, has let the Press in on it and it's been blown out of all proportion.

whitewave Thu 13-Oct-16 17:03:33

If inflation takes off will we get aCPI or RPI increase in our pension?

Jalima Thu 13-Oct-16 17:02:13

Does that mean I won't have to cart jars of the stuff out to Oz? It could be cheaper there, although it is about 3 times the price at the moment.

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 17:00:32

Ceesnan, did you really go round all the supermarkets near you to check on shortages?
It's only online Tesco at the moment.
Of course, it may soon be all the Tesco shops by tomorrow.
Never had a Pot Noodle in my life. Hate Marmite, but have to have it in for everyone else.

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 16:59:20

I'm not pretending anything. I'm just not agreeing with the Voices of Doom.

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 16:57:15

They could make a film about it. Brexit - the Movie! The new Apocalypse Now...

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 16:56:19

Yes, and Ana had already read it, but didn't say so. She's still pretending that nothing is going to happen to the economy.

whitewave Thu 13-Oct-16 16:54:06

18bn!!!! ???"There may be trouble ahead"?tra la

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 16:47:15

No thanks, you know I rarely open your links - especially when I've aready read them.

No wonder the government doesn't want to talk about Brexit.

Online Guardian, just for you, Ana, in case you missed it today.

durhamjen Thu 13-Oct-16 16:40:55

But online you don't see everything. Ana obviously missed all the stuff about immigrants.

rosesarered Thu 13-Oct-16 16:39:29

Yes, online papers are the way to go, and no black print on the fingers afterwards.

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 16:38:15

Were you durhamjen? You kept that quiet!

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 16:37:28

Yes, I feel it my duty to do so because it's got such a bad name among labourites - I don't class it as 'gutter press' though.

I also (reluctantly) read the Guardian and several other newspapers. All of them online only.
