As I made a mistake and posted in 'Brexit, power to the people' - here is Brexit4.

I know some of you don't like 'experts' or their opinions, but I do urge all to listen to this man again, from Liverpool University, calmly and expertly explaining what the single market is, and how it does work

If the UK changes its mind about leaving the EU after Article 50 has been invoked, do you think it would be allowed back under a different name?

I was wondering if the last few posts have been some kind of metaphor, because I thought this was a thread about Brexit. hmm

Have you ever told us why you left and then came back, jura? There's no reason why you should so why expect it of anyone else?

There are probably a number of reasons why people leave and then come back. It's up to each individual whether they want to indulge in explanations. Why not just accept that?

Ana Wed 26-Oct-16 15:38:52

The GN rules just mean that you can't just decide to change names whilst still a member, which apparently Mumsnet members can...

Ana Wed 26-Oct-16 15:36:39

granjura. You know yourself that if you leave GN (either by 'flouncing' or just getting fed up with it) you can't come back under your old name.

That is why people have to choose a new username if/when they decide to come back!

granjura Wed 26-Oct-16 15:32:35

*Username-changing

We don’t allow members to change their usernames because we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet.*

granjura Wed 26-Oct-16 15:31:02

Ana:

I don't think the majority of those who leave GN then have to come back under a new name aare trying to fool anyone either. Most either tell us who they used to be or are easy to spot.

So why do it at all. It is totally and clearly against the Forum etiquette- and yet some people do it again, and again, as you well know and say yourself.

For those who live in the North East, there was a debate about the problem of Brexit yesterday in Westminster Hall.

Just in case anyone's interested.

Lazigirl Wed 26-Oct-16 13:06:26

Why is it necessary to change names? I don't recognise when people have done so as don't suppose am part of the "in" crowd, whoever they are confused.

Ceesnan, no I won't give examples. But many of us know who they are and what their previous names were. Really.

I've had 2 names myself- 'granjura' and 'juragran' - didn't fool anyone somehow.

Tegan Wed 26-Oct-16 10:45:09

Power corrupts..and all that sad.

Ceesnan Wed 26-Oct-16 10:43:52

Granjura I really can't think of anyone, apart from Jings of course, who has left and rejoined with a new name again and again and again - examples please?

Rigby46 Wed 26-Oct-16 10:27:56

Lazigirl chameleon like is a very polite way of putting it grin

Lazigirl Wed 26-Oct-16 10:07:39

It just goes to show how chameleon-like our MPs,not just Boris, have to be in order to survive in our so called democracy. Self interest......

granjura Wed 26-Oct-16 09:53:09

Now Rigby46- we can truly agree on this, at least.

Maizie- been asking myself the same question?!? I am not particularla fond of the woman (to say the least) but I'm almost beginning to feel sorry for her. Certainly would NOT like to be in her shoes- for sure.

MaizieD Wed 26-Oct-16 09:47:15

I can't work out whether all she's been doing since becoming PM is to deliberately sabotage our chances of leaving the EU; so she can come back to the country and say, "Look, it's absolutely impossible without irrepairably damaging the economy and social structure of the UK"

Or, is she relishing in givng free rein to her vicious line on immigration and doesn't give a toss about what happens to the rest of the UK's problems?

Rigby46 Wed 26-Oct-16 09:24:04

It's all just beyond words isn't it?

MaizieD Wed 26-Oct-16 09:14:32

Well, what do we think of this?

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/oct/25/exclusive-leaked-recording-shows-what-theresa-may-really-thinks-about-brexit

Theresa May privately warned that companies would leave the UK if the country voted for Brexit during a secret audience with investment bankers a month before the EU referendum.

MaizieD Wed 26-Oct-16 09:06:41

Ignoring would be boring!! what would be the point?

Because some of us would like to have a grown up discussion, not a playground spat.

norose4- you are obviously 'really' new. Or you would know full well about the constant name changes for a few here.

Ana Tue 25-Oct-16 22:07:45

Which would be very hard indeed to do, especially as you have spies everywhere!

durhamjen Tue 25-Oct-16 21:55:33

Tax haven UK, Jalima.

At least they have seen sense and not sold off the land registry or the national forest yet - unless they did it while I was looking the other way.

Rigby46 Tue 25-Oct-16 21:52:03

Sorry ana for not reading your post carefully enough and misquoting you. Jalima I don't understand how posting that I found something funny Is pjumping in on one side or another ( of whatever sides already exist) One might almost call your post snippy
